I was wondering if i could keep a RBTA with ponies and pipes? I saw in the tank of the month forum, someone had a pony in with a H. Magnifica and a variety of other fish including tangs and angels. So after seeing this i was planning to put ponies, pipes, nems, and fish togehter in a reef tank. What do you guys think? I'm not going to put any agrressive fish in with them. I planned on doing mandarins, clowns, gobies, cardinals, and basslets. I will target feed them at least three times daily. could someone tell me if the RBTA sting would be too pwerful? If so what can i do to protect my sygnathids?

Thanks:rollface:

It's only a matter of time before that poor seahorse succumbs to the sting of that anemone.

Any anemone (even Aiptasia) will sting a Syngnathid. Carpet anemones are large enough to eat small ones. You should never put the two together. I've seen this happen too many times, it's very sad.

well i have two gbta and some hammer coral and my dragonfaces seem to know what they are.in fact they sleep within a few inchs of the gbta.just my two cents.

Dragonface pipefish are known for being a little more resistant to the stings of corals, but it is still not safe to keep them with Euphillids or anemones.

Seahorses, however, should never, ever be in an aquarium with anemones or corals with stinging tentacles.
