Pooky's 300

Yikes!!! I flinched when I saw all those flared spines. Nice fish. Too bad it didn't show any appetite for bubble algae. I think it's always a hit and miss thing trying to use fish/inverts to control pests. Nevertheless, I may have to give it a try since I don't want the tank to be overrun by bubble algae.

i have had good luck with S. punctatus in the past... i like the look to. Both i listed IMO are some of the better looking out there. There are a few that might look better but are harder to get. I never had good luck with S. doliatus before. I've try a few and they seem to pass for no reason. It might be the source , but IME they are hard to keep long term.

Thanks Brian. I'll have to give that a serious look.

I don't know if this should make me feel optimistic or not :hmm5:

 Sweet! Kenny's tank is back! Are you still doing large weekly water changes?

Dan, I am afraid to celebrate anything at this point. Still way too early to tell.

Still doing large water changes but every two weeks. My back won't allow me to do it any more than that.

Thanks Brian. Yes I have growth on some pieces but I am just waiting for the other shoe to fall. It seems everytime something good happens, one more colony kicks the bucket

Oh the joys of keeping SPS. I keep telling myself that one of these day it will get easier :spin2:. Let's hope tha your on that path :).

I bought this S. Doliatus, specifically for the bubble alage problem I was having. Luckily he does it Valonia, even if I was to scrape some off the rock he would eat it right out of the water column. I have a Desjardini Sailfin in the tank too, as you can also see in the bottom of the pic, and he doesn't touch it. Like you said above, "hit or miss" and I got lucky for once.

Thanks for chiming in, ryshark. Glad yours worked out for you. I'll just have to see what's available when I go look for one. Hopefully it's one that I am interested in.
