poolkeepers LED build

Check in the lighting forum on Nano Reef. It may be a page or two back, but it won't be too far. I think its about 37 pages long at this point. I'd link it, but Reef Central would just block my link.

Donny, did you add any extra colors or anything yet? Also, that C-channel ends up being fairly expensive in the end, but like Bill mentioned, it may be possible to source it somewhere other than Lowes where its $8 for 4ft. I'm also looking at doing 1/4" aluminum plate. 12"x12" piece is only $20 shipped. I'm planning on putting a computer heatsink or two on top of it to aid a little bit in cooling. :)

Brandon

Yeah, I have a red LED in my newer one. But its too new to see a color difference yet. Good think to know about the C-channel. A heatsink isn't that much more then. They really have shot up in price over the last year though. I guess more people are doing these diy LED setups.

OK i got the Par Meter today and with the fixture only running 2/3 of what i have and still 38 more Led's to add to that Im getting a Pretty good 350-360 par at 10" under the water line and around 1400 just under the cool whites but did not want to base to much on this until we get it all complete and everything working.
But to say the least Im Stoked already! Thanks To Brandon....

Sounds great Bill. Keep me updated. Those are on which optics?

I have a friend that works in a machine shop that can make this for us. Maybe just need to know what size and Ill what he can do for us.

After another long nite It's almost complete, Due to the Seller having sold me a fixture with BAD Plugs and Bad LED's we only have a few left to get going and they are mostly accent LED's So this Puppy is coming along.
And FYI Got a E-Mail from Nano Tuners that our Drivers have shipped, These are the Dimmable ones we are waiting for! Whoot..... (Thanks Brandon/Zach)

Just a little Update on this Puppy, After a long Day and getting all the strings lit (Hurray)
We started (Brandon) getting the Dimmable Drivers set up and ready to program the Sunrise/Sunset Program in the Apex. After mounting the Fixture in the Canopy and test firing them all and all was good! Then Something knocked a few LED's out and part of a second string, For no apparent reason at all??? Just Too late to pull it all down to see what happened so We do have a 95% Dimmable light in operation as of this evening and It is Awesome to watch the lights dim to 0% and then off, It looks so natural It's amazing Or as we said Spookey...
Well worth the effort and cost as they are fantastic compared to M/H and I will never go back.
Bill

I Actually tried to take Pictures every 15 min this morning to post the ramp up to 100% over the Hour time frame, But the Camera does not pick up the differences. Too bad as it really looks great!

Very cool, glad to hear everything worked today. I would never do metal halides again after seeing the LED's running.

in M mode you can fix aperture and shutter speed, so you will actually see the different brightness in the pic. What light controller you are using? :)

It's being run off the Variable Speed ports on my Apex, With 4 Dimmable Drivers and 4 Standard that come on when the Dimmable's reach 100%
But it looks Way Cool and could be made even better but money aside for now this will have to do.
