popeye

My poor little swallowtail angelfish has seemed to developed popeye in one eye. The other is not affected. This is probably due to trauma right? We did just recently upgrade to a 240 gallon tank. Maybe something happened in the move. Should I let it run it's course, or should I start Epsom salt in a hospital tank? Will it get better on it's own?
Thanks for any advice.

Unilaterial popeye can be caused by trama; a tank move, netting can result in trama as you mentioned he was upgraded.

I once aquired a fish with popeye, 1 eye was affected, I let it run its course however, I watched him very close for any sort of sign of secondary infection.

what ever you decide to do, please do not net the fish if you move him; it has the potential to cause even more problems with the infected eye.

Watch close for now. If it doesn't start getting better within a couple of days, or shows any signs of getting worse, than it's time to remove the fish and treat with antibiotics.
