Positive thoughts appreciated for ailing wife.

Some things I just don't need to see. But the thought of it gave me a smile.

I am tired and running on adrenalin alone right now. We've been texting and the hospital will call me when they are ready to take her down. I wish I could stay there the whole day but I only have a small alotment of time I can take off right now. If she fails the stress test she has to have an angioplasty and I need to be there for that as well as I have to be there while she recovers fromt he wounds to keep her off of her feet.

Thanks for the well wishes. The only thing that is killing me physically is I am exhausted (sleeping happened but not restful) and even with my blood pressure meds I can't have caffeine. Adrenalin only at this moment keeps me on my feet.

Thanks to all. It kills me to not be able to be there for the whole day while she waits but if she needs the angioplasty I need to be there for her.

I wish her a speedy recovery! It is touching how you feel about her. I definately feel the same about my Hubby. Luckily, he is the type that will check himself in if he has severe pain & goes for yearly physicals (unlike most men). Last time he was in the ER for chest pain it was heartburn from too much pizza & beer but they were all over him, just the same. Chest pain gets you to the front of the line, for sure!

Now that she has the care she needs, they'll get her the proper treatment, rest & meds, she'll be fine. Modern medicine can work miracles.

Our thoughts are with your wife. Also, please take care of yourself I was in a similar situation taking care of my wife and daughter and dog after my wife was in the hospital and ran myself into the ground.

If I could make a suggestion try to find someone to take care of the dogs, so you can spend more time with your wife and not have to worry about getting home to take care of them and then rush back and forth to the hospital to see your wife.

I'm sure it does. But when she needed you, you were there and got the job done (getting her in to see someone.)

If you were there helping her wait, you'd only annoy the staff and maybe your wife too. ;) And this way she'll be happy to see you when she does (instead of happy to see you leave. :D )

And do take care of yourself too. Sharing a room with her would not be a good solution!

I agree with you Jeni. I never used to take care of myself until I felt I had things worth living for and Tammy is one of them. My diabetes and blood pressure are in check because I have reasons to do so and people I do not want to leave behind.

Cas, sometimes she needs a break from my hovering and it really is only about 25 minutes each way to go home and take care of the dogs. If she doesn't need the angioplasty (fingers are crossed) she will be coming home tonight. And like I said if I leave to take care of the dogs she gets an hour and a half without me hovering. She worries about me worrying about her.

Of course when I was in the hospital I was happy to have her around but I made her go home and sleep in our own bed and I begged her to please go to work. Truth is if I had the time from work I would be there with her 24/7 but I'm still here less then a year and was out for my surgery in December and a week before that due to work restrictions from the injuries and then I was off for a couple of days while my mother was in the hospital in January and things were touch and go. My bosses know that if something goes wrong I will be giving them a moments notice and leaving but I still have to fulfill my obligations to them if I want to continue working there. Doesn't it suck that jobs have to get in the way of life?

P.S. I took an extra half dose of my BP meds and got a cup of coffee at Einstein Bros. So far no headache and I am a little more alert. I need to be as I work around moving parts and electricity. There's my justification.
 
Adam- You're doing a heck of a job. It takes a lot to be "that person" that is at the hospital constantly. Being there for the procedures/operations, trying to learn medications and medical terminology and just being there for your loved one. I really respect what you are doing for her. This is my 4th serious run-in with hospitals. This time it is my mom and I'm running out of go-juice. It's really stressful going back and forth, barely sleeping, but always worrying. Gotta go. Getting too emotional...:rolleye1: You're doing a great job and we all wish her a speedy recovery.:thumbsup:

And the same goes out to you. I have a strong auto pilot. I always have. I go into crisis mode and just do. It's one of the reasons my mother loves me. My dad had heart problems from the time he was 40 until he died at a couple weeks past his 66th birthday in 2000. I was there with him every step of the way form the time I was 20. He had his heart issues mostly under control but the nightmare that is insulin dependant diabetes took over his life in the mid 90's and with that comes the risk of stroke. Although I was the youngest of his 3 children I was in charge when he was in the hospital for the last time due to a massive aneurism. Mom was for obvious reasons a basket case. The only hting they wouldn't let me take part in was planning the funeral. I spent 4 straight days in the hospital 24/7 with my dad and my mom made Tammy take me home.

Adrenalin powers people on auto pilot where you just do what has to be done.

Dave, I wish your mom the best. It's a lot of work sometimes caring for loved ones. Life comes full circle when those that were our caregivers need our care. My prayers are with you and your family as well.

Thanks again all. We are home now. Both of us. All tests came out clean. Next thing to check out is a hiatus hernia and she has a good G.I. doc so she will make attmepts to see him tomorrow but utill he can make a diagnosis she'll be taking soem OTC meds for acid reflux. All things considered it is excellent news. So she's in bed and I am going to go join her and we're going to sleep real good I think.

Adam, I'm so glad your bride is home from the hospital. :D

We'll keep praying for quick healing for Tammy, wisdom for the doctors to figure out what is causing this and also for your continued strength through this.

Wow, what an ordeal. Hope your wife, fish, and dogs all turn out alright from this trauma.

Good thing nothing truly serious happened, but it still must have been hard on you.
