Possible new tank

Looking at picking up a 7 foot 280 gallon glass tank. This tank doesn't have a frame, just silicone panels. Never had one like this. Should I be concerned about anything? Transporting on a small trailer?

Thanks, Norm

I sure would be. With no frame I'd be scared of every joint failing. I worried about moving my 280 acrylic cross country

The tank has 3/4 glass on the sides, double 1/2 glass on the top to tie it together and probably the same on the bottom. It would be a pain to move it into my basement but will fit and is the longest tank that would make it. If moving it pops the seams it would be glorious waste of time and money.

Couldn't you just have the seams redone? Not ideal, but better than tossing the tank.

I would strap it around the sides with some wide ratchet straps. Crank them down pretty snug. Maybe with a blanket or two to protect the glass.

Have you thought about renting a box truck with a lift gate? The suspension on the truck would be a lot better than that of a trailer. I'd think the cost of the rental would be money well invested.

My trailer has leaf springs and is relatively light (4x8 with a sheet steel deck). The weight of the tank would set it down from bouncing as much as it does unloaded. I thought about putting a couple sheets of Styrofoam under it and strap it down.

My trailer......is relatively light....
that would be my concern. I wouldn't think it'll "level out" the bumps as well as a box truck would. I know when I've drug my trailer around, I'd go over a slight bump, barely able to feel it in my truck, and the loaded 10x5 Clearwater trailer would be knocking and bouncing like I just took a speed bump at 15mph.
