ok,
so i did a lugols dip to get some red bugs off of a couple of pieces and now it looks like the tissue is sloughing off is this normal? all i did was made some dip water and basically swished them around for a few seconds and now they look bad
thanks,
austin

I haven't had that happen before with lugols. I have been using coralRX pro and haven't had any trouble and it works great. Is it possible that you mixed your dip to strong?

iodine is always stressful to some extent, even if dosed properly and is the wrong drug for red bugs and a unecessesary stress i would suggest not doing again

Interceptor is all but zero stress and what to use for the red bugs

Iodine in any form is an outdated dip IMO for everything. coralRX

I use 10 drops to a quart (based on kents recommended 40 drops/gallon for dipping) and have NEVER has any coral sps or otherwise react negatively, just the creatures hiding out. I leave it in there at least 10 minutes swirling it around every so often in the solution. I've gone stronger and dipped longer and still no problems.
