post pics of hawkins echinata

Not too to difficult Eric.. They just don't like to be dipped..As long as your system is stable and mature, it should thrive..

Interesting. I always thought they were tougher in general than other sps corals. I have a pretty stable tank... My montis and milliporas are coloring up nice and growing a tiny bit. I'll have to see if anyone local has a piece I can buy. They're beautiful so this is good news.

Is hawkins echinata same as turaki?
I see a lot of turaki here. Turaki coral have strip pattern on its body but I think hawkins do not have strip pattern. Are many people having ID mistakes? Please tell me if I am wrong.

Hmm that's strange your guys aren't growing I got a half inch frag a few weeks ago and not even thinking about it just put it on the sand and it took off like mad, than I seen this thread and realized it would probably do even better up near the top and moved it up and it still appears to be growing good.

lol I don't know what made me put it on the sand for some reason I was just thinking it was a deeper water sps and should be down there I guess.

Its good practice to put new frags on the bottom to get them use to the light.

I just picked one up on Monday after a 3 month hunt. So I'm pretty happy I justlove this coral.

Anyone have trouble fragging theirs? I have tried two times and both times they RTN'd over night. I did not dip either time and the second time I didn't remove frag from water. Instead I fragged and placed it in a safe place to heal and it still RTN'd.

I wish someone would have mentioned not to dip the coral until now. I dipped mine, like I do every coral that enters my tank, and it RTNed over night.

here is an old pic of mine.
