Post the rarest fish species you have personally seen!

I own a Brown Spotted Snake moray. It's a dwarf eel and I can't find anything really about them online besides that they are found in Hawaii. It was confused for a Golden Dwarf from the guy I bought it from. Scientific name is Uropterygius fuscoguttatus. He never really comes out with lights on which is a shame, but still cool to have in the tank.

Sorry no picture

My local LFS got in a white capped goby not too long ago. A buddy of mine has an earlei in his tank. I saw some gem tangs in someone's basement setup. This is all in New Jersey

osaka venusta angels are c. venusta from Japan. They are nicer looking and tend to do better. They are also never exported because the Japanese love them!

Heres a pic of the eel that i own, its so rare that the pic that the seller took is on google images:

Looks like a young banana eel. I know someone who has a 300 Gal. tank with a black back, black stand and canopy, black rocks with a banana eel and a queen angel and others but those two shine like a diamond ring!

The tank was featured on LAFishGuys, you can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsFF7NFMCzk&feature=fvwrel He talks about the fish in the tank at about 6:32.

To me this picture looks like your dwarf is trying to eat and he's got a camera in his face and he's saying "Whatchoo' looking at?" HAHAHAHA! Its awesome!

Ok well i would have to say the rarest fish ive seen is my pair of Redsea 8 line flasher
{P. octotaenia} took me 3 years to get these, not a fish that comes in often and when it does it isnt in much of a quanity, i was fortunate a friend tracked a pair down for me, so i would say 3 years to get a fish and never seeing them f\s was and is pretty rare for me

It's hard to consider Lookdowns rare when I seined up 9 of them in an hour a few days ago in Ocean County, NJ. All of them slightly larger than a quarter with long flowing streamers. I can't believe what they sell for these days. I kept the Seahorses but released the Lookdowns. Very few people have tanks large enough for them, so I'd rather leave them in the ocean.

It may be close in nature to a banana, but it has no dorsal fin...the only thing I can find about it online is this: http://www.fishbase.org/summary/speciessummary.php?id=7286

The rarest was my A. Kingi I had
There are only 2 bandit angels in SA I have one
I have the only Griffis angel , Achilles x goldrim hybrid tang , goldenback trigger , wrought iron butterfly in SA
And 1 of 5 black tangs in SA
I have had 2 gem tangs And seen about 10 in total

It sounds like a lot of rare fish but not a lot of guys have them

In 2 weeks time my armitage and conspic angels will be in SA :hmm5:
