maxxII:
were you reffering to reefdragon's anemone in your last post?

That is what I was wondering. That anemone doesn't look anything like any M. doreensis to me, at least. I think I remember thinking it may be some sort of corallimorph, but I don't really know.

No.

I was referring to my anemone and this post :

That is an awesome nem, Nick. I hope it's doing okay. You said it was an LTA, but that means it could be a M. doreensis, sebae, H crispa, but not an H. Malu.... correct? It would be nicer if the LFS labeled their anemones according to their scientific name rather than "LTA, or Sebae"

Reefdragon posted while I was typing up mine....

Reefdragon's anemone appears to be a Psuedocorynactis species...(White ball anemone/corallimorph...related to mushroom's) See Borneman's book "Aquarium Corals" pg 198 for several pics including one that looks very much like Reefdragon's...

Excattly my thoughts. I cant remember what kind of anemone it is either, there was a thread about it a little while back but i can't remember what it was called. One thing for 100% certain. That is not a m. doreensis. If thats what was intended by his statement it was complete misinformation.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Austin...

Here is a better pic.

DSC01360.jpg

I've seen several of these guy this week at the LFS. Any one has a positive ID?

Corynactis and Psudocorynactis that we have here in Nor Cal coast are from much deep water, non photosythatic, and are much smaller in size. Are the Indo ones photosynthetic?
The one I saw at the LFS are much larger, may be 4 in across.

I am not sure yet. I would guess it is non-photosynthetic because it is fully open when I check on it in the morning after the lights have been out all night. Mine gets close to 6" in dia. when fully opened.
