Post Your Tank Photos

Paul, your color problems are related to white balance. Shoot raw and adjust in post and you'll be able to fix it. See below for an example. Since your tank is so long, you may also want to shoot multiple shots and stitch them together for your FTS.

Gulloryreef, beautiful pictures. I still can't get any color in the pictures. I just re-aquascaped and cleaned the tank this week

Paul.. I've been watching your tank for the past few years on RC. Your tank is simply awesome!

I only hope that I can be as sucessfull... long term.. as you!

Rob- thank you as well for posting. I like your foam wall-scape. Any pics of the tank itself? I can't think of many (if any) half-circle reefs that I have seen...

Sure...here's some during the build: (not the best pics but you get the idea... pre-android days)

Man, this pic is insane! Nice shot. So crisp and clean.

Thanks for posting those Rob! How are you liking the foam?

I like it. I've been using it for several years now. I've seen some tanks that have inspired me to use it. I have done about 5 or 6 tanks with foam so far and I'm most pleased with using black pond foam (waterfall foam) and sealing it with aquarium sealant. I have found that without sealing it, it may start to peel off the glass after about a year. I also like the combination of PVC tunnels as seen in my half circle.

Oh, and mounting plugs is so easy with the foam....just press em' in.

Anyways, thanks for the reply.

Kmoze, exactly what does that mean?

Digital cameras work by taking a "Raw" image, and then applying settings in camera to convert that data to a jpg file. Those settings are things like sharpness enhancements, noise reduction, etc, and includes white balance.

White balance is adjusting the color range of the picture in an attempt to replicate how the human eye translates it. Each source of light, such as the sun, an incandescent source, or the lights on your tank gives off a different color temperature.

Now, most cameras have an auto-white-balance setting, the problem is that looking at your pics, yours is screwing it up.

Applying a customizable white balance to your picture after it's been taken should fix that, but you can't do it to a jpg because once it's set, it's set, so you need the original raw file.

Not every camera will let you record a raw file, though. What kind of camera are you using?

I had the honor of having Gary Parr over last weekend to take pictures of my tank.

I'm getting a new canopy made right now so that I can add 4 more T5's.
Maybe after that I'll learn how to use my camera! :spin1:

Now that's completely outstanding. I'm speechless from both the tank and the photos. It is pure pleasure for the eye, man! Congratulations!
After your post I'm little bit ashamed from the picture below of my 3 month ugly baby.

It is 66 gallons display with 40 gallons sump.

Jill- great shots! Your tank looks very well kept. I really like the mystery wrasse shot and the motion you captured with the coco worm image.

thepenalty! Don't be ashamed! You should be proud of yourself for being patient and for doing things properly. Please keep us updated on your "ugly baby's" progress.

Reeftanks- looking good.

Thanks for posting ladies and gents.

Here's another from last week. My neon Trachy! Why pay 300$ for a Scolymia australis when there are reasonably priced LPS like this?
(of course I wish I had $ for a scoly :fun2:)
