Basically, one can either attach a pic or embed in one's post. Attaching results in a thumbnail with your post that has to be clicked to be opened. Embedding looks nicer because the pic is in your post without having to be clicked to be seen larger.
Attaching can be done straight from your computer and embedding via an image hosting service such as Photobucket or Flickr or whatever.
