Potassium Permanganate = nudi killer?

If it's true and it works, it will be a life saver for many many reefers. 2 thumbs up.

I've used potassium permanganate on zoa-eating nudi's with success in killing eggs and nudi's without killing any zoas.

Where did you get it from and what dose?

Jungle product "Clear Water". Walmart has little 2oz bottles but you'll need to dilute the stuff anyway so 2oz may be enough for you. Start with about 1/4 tsp/gal dip water and then increase dosage as needed. Petco carries 4oz bottles for $4.99 in my area.

"Filter Mate" brand green sand recharger for swimming pools is what I used. I ordered it through an Amazon seller (not Amazon itself). I used 25mg/liter for 90 minutes in heavy aeration. 30 minutes kills nudibranchs but it took 90 minutes to kill the eggs. Rinse the zoas very well in clean SW before returning to the tank because otherwise fish will die.

If anyone else decides to do this please please please, read and print out and keep handy the MSDS on this product:

KMNO3 is not to be used lightly.

Sorry, after reading my post I wasn't very clear on the "Clear water". Jungle's Clear Water is an aqueous solution of potasium permanganate. It's easy to find at any Walmart, Petco, Petsmart, etc... Much easier to get ahold of.

I tried all those, and none of them locally carried it. :( It was quite the frustrating experience and I was about ready to abandon the whole idea when I found it through Amazon.

i'm not sure if this has been mentioned here on rc, but here goes...this could be a breakthrough in ridding zoanthid eating nudibranches....

D'oh! I didn't follow the link before just now, didn't realize what it was. :) Thanks, Glee. :)
