powder blue kept chasing the newly intro copperband butterfly

Step one would be to remove the CB and get it into quarantine. Getting it to eat when it's stressed like this is nearly impossible.

i do not have any quarantine tank. does switch off the light lower the aggression of the powder blue ?

Yes turning off lights may help, but you are probably going to have to take that fish out. If they don't settle down soon, the powder blue tang will kill it.

+1 to the posts above. CBBs are tough to acclimate under the best conditions. They can't handle aggression, or even extremely active tanks. I'd get a QT before you introduce something that will destroy all of your fish.

I agree with the other posts. Many people recommend that adding PBT as your last addition since they get so territorial. It would be best to QT the CBB. If you dont have a QT you might want to add to your refugium(if its big enough).

all good advice except you will have the same problem when re-introducing the CBB again....some PBTs are more aggressive than others, but I would remove the PBT for a week or longer which will allow the CBB to aclimate it self and hopefully start eating prepared foods when it does then re-introduce the PBT making it the new guy again...I have my PBT almost 15 years now and have to do this with every new addition...the mirror, aclimation boxes etc.. tricks never worked with mine....GL

so feeding it in the refugium area?

I agree with the others. You will probably have issues even after re-introducing the CBB back into your main tank. I feed in the Fuge very lite. Do you have aptasia in your fuge?

I am running zeovit and due to the aiptasia in the main tank that is why I got the copper band

More research in future before buying fish in future will save fish lives n save wallet money. Powder blue is one of those fish that should always go in tank last

My PBT just started kicking a well-established Blonde Naso's *** today. Your CBB doesn't stand a chance against one of those things.

Mike,

How do you catch your pbt repeatedly? They are pretty wary of anything new in the tank and would seem to be smart enough not to be fooled by a fish trap more than once.

I agree that the mirror trick and acclimation boxes have only a limited effect. The mirror will keep it occupied but it will return to taking charge of new additions.
