Powder blue Tang Facts

I'm in the process of Upgrading to a 120g 4x2x2. I was wondering what people had to say about getting a powder blue tang for it. I would try and find the smallest one possible within reason.
Also I was wondering if this fish would be compatible with a small yellow tang thats about 2.5-3".
2 small Tangs in a 120?? Any other fish that will be put in there will be small, such as the 5, 1" chromis I have.

Thanks

I would be hesitant to get a powder blue for a 120. 2 tangs would definitely be more than I would get. Powder blues can be unpredictable and may cause issues with a yellow tang.

Honestly, I wouldn't put a powder blue in a 120. I thought my 180 (6'x2'x2') was borderline for my powder blue because he was extremely active.

dang, I really want a fish that stands out and i love PBtangs... Hmm.. how about a yellow tang and a copper banded butterfly?

I know what you mean..The powder blue was one of the fish that got me into the hobby. I don't have room for a 6' tank though

I think that would work out as long as the copperband is well established before the yellow tang is added.

I'll probably just stick with my yellow tang, but a CBB would be an awesome addition, I'd sure be happy never buying joes juice again..

A yellow tang, kole (yellow eye) tang, and CBB would look and do very nice in that tank. None are blue, but some dwarf angels are blue and would fit right in.

PBTs grow fast, especially females, and they are very active. They are super cool, but a PBT would do better in a larger tank.

Do it for sure a 120 is fine for a pb tang. Some advise put the pb tang in first they do better when they are established first. When you add it after other fish they tend to get beat on and then usually get ich.

Umm. Ok? Do you have any experience with this fish? From your post i am willing to bet no

Have you ever kept a powder blue tang long-term? Typically, what happens is the opposite of what you posted. Powder blues are one of the more aggressive tangs and will go after almost any fish with a similar body shape (other tangs, angels, butterflies, rabbits) that are added after them.

I recently decided against a powder blue tang in my 120. After extensive itnernet research, I found out that the smaller the tank, the move pacing behaviour and aggressivity you'll witness. Bioload-wise the fish would fit, but I personally wouldn't want a fish pacing the front window day long

Very true. They become progressively more aggressive especially in smallish tanks.
