Powder blue tang with ich

My tangs Dt is a 6'long 125g. But qt tank is 10g...terrible I know but the rest of my tanks are all in use. But, they seem to like the 10 while being treated. This PB is timid as can be and he's twice as big as the YT. I've never seen a aggressive PB. Good luck with your tangs :)

So I come home tonight and the yellow tang looks like hell. Skinny, ribs showing, he didnt look like this this morning. They both are flashing every once and a while, but I don't see anything on them. Idk what to do now. Could thy be adjusting to the salinity, or did the ich come back? This suuuucks. I want to scream right now

I don't see any spots on either of them still. The yellow tang looks bad, the PB seems ok. Shouldn't I see some spots by now if it was ich? If they make it to Sunday without any visible signs should I put them in the DT? I know the QT is small for them so they could be stressing out because if it?

Still not seeing any spots. The yellow tang looks like a bag of bones though. I'm thinking if I don't see any spots tomorrow maybe I should it then in the DT. Hopefully that's the right choice...maybe with more swimming room and hiding places they'll be move comfortable?

Fish don't get skinny overnight...

What are you feeding them? How often? If the fish are flashing, DO NOT put them into the DT! Something is still wrong, and you need to find out what. I would highly recommend going through a copper treatment or Chloroquine Phosphate. Hypo only treats ich, and even in that application is touchy. The other treatment options are a much broader spectrum will kill off other parasites. I also highly recommend PraziPro if haven't aren't already.

Green seaweed everyday, they seem to eat it up. I haven't seen them flash since that one time, is it possible they were flashing from a ph swing? Idk I have not seen ich in 5 weeks now, so I doubt it's ich at this point. I feel like the QT tank is causing more harm then good. They seem to be getting more aggressive with each other and I don't know what else I could do.

Still the same. I'm almost positive the yellow has HLLE. I bought some liquid vitamins and ill start soaking the seaweed in it. He acts normal, he just looks like a skeleton...I keep reading high water quality and vitamins can help a lot, overtime it will reverse. I guess ill see how it goes. I really believe the ich is gone though, if it wasn't I feel like the YT would be infested

It's also possible for him to have gill fluke or an internal infestation. Coppersafe has always done the trick for me in these cases. My qt is only 10g. My PB is nearly 6" long and my YT almost 5". I know small tanks are not generally acceptable but its been fine for qt with my fish. Separate them by placing only the sick/unhealthy fish in qt. Treat with coppersafe and vitamin and maybe put some lugals garlic in the food.

Would prazipro work for that stuff? That's all I have right now. So I should put the PB in and just treat the YT? That might be a good idea, I thought I needed to put the two tangs in the DT together for aggression issues.

You can treat them both (& probanly should)but if one is beating up on the other you need to separate them until they are both well.

Prazipro is VERY good but ime when a tang is this sick the only thing that saved it was coppersafe. Try it but if the tang doesn't show any improvement in a day or two do the coppersafe. Hooefully it won't already be too late.

Well I put the PB in the DT and he's right at home already. I fed him pellets and a strip of seaweed with no problems at all...he's fine. The YT is move active without the PB around, so hopefully he starts to recover quickly. I'm not going to start prazipro until tomorrow, hopefully he doesn't even need it. If nothing changes tomorrow ill start it up.

I want to say chip (the YTs name because he is as thin as a potato chip) seems like he got a little fatter, but idk. I haven't seen him eat anything but ill see when I get home from work today.

Can you post a picture or two of the yellow tang for us? That would help a lot with determining whether or not qt is the proper place for him,
