I have had mine for several years and at first it was pale and thin like most of them on arrival. It took me about six months to get it in shape. They need alot of swimming space with good to strong current. Some rockwork with caves to swim around and through to give them security. Their diet must be varied with meaty foods and lots of greens. They are very active strong swimmers and stress out easily......here's mine..one of my favorite fish.......

:eek1: Beautiful!! I don't have one but I think they are the most beautiful fish!!
Nami, MyPowder Brown, [Ancanthurus Japonicus] Did this also...I believe Jenkerry's Powder Blue did the same. Cover the sides of your tank until he becomes more comfortable
Also, Did you quarantine? These fish are prone to ich and sometimes amyloodium. I see you had him on hold for 3 weeks which is good but still watch for the dreaded white spots. My powder Brown is still in qt, after ich he has broke out into some other funk that I am working on treating now. Congrats on this fish..we got one in at work and I have been eyeballing him
