okay i'm almost set on getting a PBT. am i just over-worrying about it getting ich even with 4weeks of cupramine?

my 180g DT should be ich free.

livestock includes: all 3 close to 4".
emperor juvie
adult blueface
powder brown tang

in QT at the moment:
4 carberri anthias - goes in DT next week
3" purple tang - got about 2 more weeks of cupramine

so powder brown + purple tang + pbt

am i asking for trouble if i get a 5" PBT? this would certainly be my last tang.

tank is a little crowded, but lets not get into that...

We tried keeping a powder blue and a powder brown together at a lfs I worked at, in college. The tank was 175g and it was WW3 between the two tangs, I'd definitely advise against it.

pick a different species of tang aside from one of the powders. With tangs its rarely a good idea to mixed same bodied types together.

Fish see colors differently than we do, so who knows what they look like to each other -- maybe too similar (?)

IMO, with those Angels & tangs, you'll have too many big fish for a 180. Crowded tanks bring out aggression. IMO, the 5" PBT would quickly become the Alpha fish and really make sure that the other tangs knew it. It could work, anything can, but I wouldn't do it. (And I often do things most sane hobbyists won't.) If you decide to try it; I'd wait until all your other fish are well established and add the PBT as the last fish, and be ready to get him out if you need to....I believe you will.
Also; if the Carberryis (great fish) are in the same QT as the PT (also a great fish); something is screwed up with your timing. Did you add the PT after the Carberryis? If so, the period of copper treatment needs to be extended for the CAs; they could have been exposed to new problems with the PTs. If separate QT tanks, fine.

The carberryis is in a 17g 1.008-.009 for 5 weeks now. I kept on getting told that anthias dont do well with cupramine at all. So i did hypo instead. A lot of people will even say anthias hardly ever get ich, but i'm real anal about QT-ing fish and what goes in my DT. I dont like that the only thing the carberris eat is frozens. it'll be a challenge when they want to eat in the DT as the angels and powder brown are pretty aggressive eaters.

The PT is in a 29g ~.5ppm cupramine. He is eating pretty good. the PT is a good bit smaller than the powder brown.

the adult blueface is hidden somewhere behind the rocks. hes the same size as the emperor juvie. i'm looking to add some more rock, about the same amount of whats currently in the DT soon.
