Powder brown tang

Umm not really. Myabe for a little bit. Those fish get around 9-10 inches and would outgrow that tank rather quickly. Tangs are also prone to ich especially in a smaller system. I wouldnt attempt to house any tang in anything smaller then a 75g and thats pushing it.

well, it def. would not be perminant, just there until it outgrows the tank. I do understand that it would outgrow it eventually.

well alot of people say they would outgrow rather quickly. From what ive noticed. they dont grow as fast as most people think as quickly. if you have a plan to upgrade in a year or so, you would be fine.

Its not just the size...they're very active swimmers. Mine is now in my 240 and he is always swimming back and forth over the whole tank. He's probably about 4". When were you going to upgrade?

Which "powder brown" are you looking at? Is there a small white patch under his eye, or is it a much larger patch, going almost all the way down to his mouth? If the former, its Acanthurus nigricans, which is supposed to be very difficult to keep. If the latter, its Acanthurus japonicus, which is what I have, and should fare a bit better in captivity.
