Power Bars

While I wait to get approved on the support forum I figured I could ask this here...

Can someone please explain the difference between the different power bar options and the reasoning for using each? I'm pretty sure I will need more than the one that's coming with my mega pack so trying to figure out what I'll need to purchase.

Thanks!

Dennis are you talking about PAB vs NON-PAB?

My understanding is that the PAB allows you to monitor "AMPS" across the powerbar.

There is more to that than just amps, the pab power bar has PAB connectivity, it uses the bus system, as such you can have as many power bars as you like running from the PAB port and also put other PAB devises into the mix.

The cost increase is due to the added technology incorporated, this includes the AMP monitoring abilities that is not exactly a cheap add on.

Hopefully those 2 quotes from this forum will help.

Ya, that helps a bit.

I was looking at all of these

One thing I'm looking to do is have my equipment spread out across as many electrical circuits as possible. We are adding at least 4 outlets to my fish room, each on their own circuit. So if my lights were to trip the breaker for some reason, the rest of my tank would continue to run. It looks like the ExpansionSocket would allow me to do that? I don't have my Profilux kit yet and the pic doesn't show the wires... does the power bar plug into a wall socket? If so it seems like that would work for me. Does the ExpansionSocket daisy chain into the digital PowerBar?

But in general, ya... I was just trying to get a better understanding of each of those. And I have no clue what the PowerHub would be used for.

Thanks!

The high amp poer bar (the one with two sockets) is designed to spread the load across different electrical circuits.

The power bar has two lines

1. this is the switching signal line, it plugs into any of the 6 power bar 6D-PAB sockets
2. The other cable is the power feed cabple that will plug into a wall socket.

The 6 socket power bar is then programmed to switch the signal line on and off as required, this in turn switches the relay in the high amp.

This allows power isolation - ideal for running HQi ballasts that have a habit of killing power bar relays.

The two sockets switch togther not independant.

You have bene forum approved ;)

Dennis I just checked out your homepage, nice build the Profilux will be a nice compliment to your build. PS Welcome to the family.

Thanks, guys.
Looking forward to getting this set up on the new build.
I spent some of this weekend just staring at all the parts wondering what the heck to do with it all.

Dennis you're going to have a field day getting it all "Controlled". The sky (or the sea?) is the limit!

WOW! I just looked at your build thread!! Very VERY nice indeed!
