Power going out tonight at work!

I was just told that Edison will shut off power to my office building from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. tomorrow. I keep a couple of nano tanks at work. There isn't much I can really do now, but I was just wondering if my corals and fish will be able to survive 8 hours. One tank is 16 gallons with LPS, softies, and a pair of Percs. The other tank is 24 gallons with a mixed of SPS, LPS, softies, pair of Onyx, and a YWG. Any pointers will be appreciated.

get a battery back up to keep the water flowing.

Battery powered air pumps will handle water movement for 8 hours no problem.

Order from Marine Depot will have it at your door tomorrow. Or you can do will-call tonight. They are open til 6pm. If that will not work for you I have a brand new one that I can sell you and you can pick it up tonight. I have a tee for air hose and you might be able to run both tanks with it. If you've got a computer backup battery, you can plug a regular air pump into it.

Wow, thanks for all the advice and offers everyone. I did take Wilafur's advice and got a battery power air pump from Total Tropical and picked up an air pump from home that I'll plug into my computer backup battery. Hopefully, the battery is big enough to last 8 hours.

So would these work? That's much cheaper than the 15 bones I just dropped at the LFS. I just may buy a few for such emergencies.

I would.

I have 2 deep cycle car batteries, a 300W DC inverter and a couple of air pumps. That's for the main tank, quarantine and/or sump.

As for battery powered ones, I have a 5 gal "to go" bucket that has my DC inverter, cigarette lighter adapter, small air pump with airstone and tubing, and a small heater. I also have a battery powered air pump for convenience or "just in case".

I mean, come on. The money we spend on these things (the hobby) and we squint at fifteen bucks?

When in doubt, just pass the Visa!

Battery, its used to keep bait fish alive. It will work, it looks just like the one sold a lfs but with diff packaging.
