Power Heads for a 60 Gallon

Hi,

I am looking at getting 1 Seio 620 for my 60 gallon FOWLR.

Is this enough flow, coupled with a Rena external wet/dry, remora skimmer, and an aquafuge.

Adequate water movement, without blowing the fish around too much?

Also where is the cheapest place to get a Seio 620. So far I have found Marine Depot at 37.95 w/ 7.00 shipping to be the cheapest.

Thanks

I'd probably want more circulation. It is a bit easier to adjust for chaotic movement. Of course if you have a monster return your milage may vary.

I have a mag 5 return on my 72 that I use basically to create nice surface movement for better cooling and surface tension breaking. I also have 2 Seio 820s. most everything moves around nicely and the clowns have no trouble swimming. In fact there are plenty of places for the 'pods to swim pretty freely under rocks etc .

Cool thanks.

Yeah I am looking at getting at least one Seio 820.. maybe even 2.

Any ideas on how to setup a good flow for a FOWLR? Opposite ends? One facing front panel, etc...?

Oh yah, 1 -620 is not enough for a 60g tank, too many 10x-15x turn over articles that are older than my dead grandmother out there, you want closer to 30-50x turn over.

Best way... to arrange? Well that depends upon your rock structure, how wide the tank is, whether or not you have a sand bed, etc. If you have a sandbed that immediately restricts the vertical direction you point them. If its a thin tank with a sand bed that also restricts pointing them towards the front (since the flow will most likely go straight down the glass and disturb the sand. I think 3 will do fine though (two 820s and the 620) just arrange them as you feel so that there's flow everywhere, if you have sand sprinkly it from the top of the tank to get an idea of where your flow is going, or if there is any dead spots.

Good idea Mike.

I will be planning on at least a 3-4" Sand Bed more for the wrasses than for any type of filtration etc...

I had forgotten about the issue with high flow and sand.......

LR will be minimal compared to a true reef tank... probably 50IBS or so.... mostly setup as shelter for the larger wrasses.

I think the issue will just be water movement, airation, etc...

Thanks
