Powerhead Power too much?

I just added 2 rio 1700's to my 55 and my frogspawns and hammerhead closed up like i expected them too but havn't opened back up yet...do you guys think this is too much flow on them or are they just adjusting to the flow....I had only a maxi 1200 running by itself for about a month and a half b/c my other two powerheads stopped working....They corals are in the middle of the tank and the jets arn't right on them but with how narrow a 55 is they are getting flow....What do you LPS experts think?

When the powerheads were turned on, did the heads blow all over the place or did they just close up without you noticing?

I'd say yes. Even if you had them on opposite ends of a 4' tank, pointing directly at each other. Thats a whole lot of flow.

They just slowly closed up but they look pretty good right now...i'll keep checking on them just to make sure but i'd say they look pretty good...
