Powerhead Recommendation

I'm new to tunze and need some advice. I have an apex controller I would like to use to controll the tunze powerheads. My tank is 72"x30"x26" euro braced, 3/4" Thick acrylic sides. I have 98% sps.

Do tunze have modes similar to vortex mp60, such as reef crest, etc.?

Also where is the best location to place the powerheads?

Thanks in advance.

Modes are a function of the controller and not the pumps, there is no reason our pumps could not do those same functions, but these are not functions standard on our controllers. We will add something comparable soon to the 7096 software. In this case it comes down to what you set up on the apex since that is the controller you will be using.

There is a worldwide shortage on 6105, 6205 and 6305, we are still catching up from a hug Christmas rush we did not anticipate. Present lead time is about 4-6 weeks. It is best to place an order if you know you want them. It is not likely they will be a regular stock item again for at least 2 months. It is a production issue and based on a huge surge in demand between November and January that we were unable to meet and have to get caught up on. Basically, we had not seen a real Christmas rush in 3 years and were caught off guard, stock of materials and staff had been cut back over that time.

For a back up, our solution is essentially a DIY set- 6105.500. This is just an autoswitching unit with a fuse to protect the pump. You can connect any battery from a lantern battery, to a gel cell and also solar panels. You have to connect and provide the batteries and charger for the batteries. It may not be as elegant as other solutions, but it is far more versatile since you can change the battery and even make a solar back up option.

Is it possible to order the Tunze 6105's with the 6205 shrouds installed, rather than having to buy them separately and have the 6105 shrouds collect dust? I went on the Tunze website and see one can buy parts and assemble their own for a lot less than buying it assembled. Do you recommend I do that instead? shipping to me was only $12 (Los Angeles CA).

Unless you have omitted some parts, they do cost more buying as parts

You would need these parts

6065.500
6065.650
6105.100
6105.700
6105.240
6205.200
6205.130
Print copy of manual (PDF is available free online, print is $3)

The total comes to $359.26 with the manuals if desired. You actually spend about $6 more than a 6205.130 and 6105, add to that that spare parts have no warranty unless it is a complete replacement pump and the only way to do that is part 6101.015 which would include the shroud you don't want and this only would cover parts 6105.100 and 6105.700 since you won't be able to use the retrofit clamp or shroud to meet your final goal.

I just ordered the 6105's from Marine Depot. So all I need now is the 6205 housing (6205.130) to make the flow wider?

Where can I go to get the Profile setup information for the APEX to use my Tunze 6105's?
Also, is there a site that has step by step instructions on setting up it all up. Thanks..

you would need to check with someone from neptune systems for that. If you have the unofficial new users guide it may have info regarding setup with the APEX. If not check out the Neptune Systems sponsor sub forum on here.
