Powerheads, Pump and Farenheit

Ok so I just went to the store and bought two aquaclear 20 powerheads, 127gph for my 24g Aquapod. They work great and add awesome circulation, helping the filtration in effect, and also helping the flow in my tank as well. The only problem is, without any of the lights running, just the stock pump and two powerheads, it's heating my water up to a fluctuating high 84-86 flat Farenheit. This seems too hot, is it? I ordered two stealth vantech fans to replace the stock fan, and add another, so hopefully my lights wont heat it up even more. Do I need to get a nano chiller? Or are there any other, more affordable ways to reduce the temp down to a steady 80 perhaps? Thank you all. As soon as I can get my temp down, I can order my live rock!

It sounds like something isn't working right. Try putting you hand on the powerheads and feel if one of them is getting hot.

JBJ powerheads are notorious for overheating. I'd look there first - just unplug it and see if the temp goes down.

I just had a similar situation. Our nano cube was running at about 84 degrees regardless of lights, fans, etc. It turned out that the heater was having a problem. So, make sure you check the obvious : )

yeah. make sure the heater is not having problems. then i would feel the pumps/powerheads and see if they are hot. i bet that if its that hot w/ no ligfhts it will be like 92 with them.
