fw dip seems to work well against black ick. I treated a yellow tang many years ago and one dip did the trick

I just went through the same with my skimmer, also a HOB-1. My problem came from all the putty and superglue I used when I rearranged things. Its happened before. It always settles in. The microbubbles are normal, and will eventually go away.

Yeah sorry, its hard to get a good pic with the fish swimming around.

let me give you a good tip to taking pics of a moving object.....if you have a droid and Im sure icrap does it also ....take a video of the moving object then play the video then use the phone and pause it right where you want the best pick and take a pick from the video and BAM you have the best shot possible as video will capture every movement of the fish then just get the angle and close up pic you want pulled from the video

ps works for all those family pics also when you have 10 people all not looking or smiling at the same time or kids.....take a short 10 sec video then take pics from the video

No its an aquamaxx hob. ..doesn't have a way to control airflow

FWIW, you can pinch the air intake hose with a twist tie or by bending a paper clip over the hose.
