Prazipro or Herbtana use in the reef tank

So I've read that Prazipro is reef safe. When dosing remove carbon and skimmer collection cup but keep skimmer running to help with oxygenating the water.

Have you dosed Prazipro in your reef tank, where there any negative affects to snails or corals of any kind and is it safe for wrasses? I used Prazipro many years ago and don't remember anything bad with it's use. I've also read that it can affect some wrasses. I've got a McCosker's wrasse so I want to be sure it's ok to use.

I ask because one of my fish is flashing and shaking her head and I've got a couple of fish showing the white stringy poop. So I'm thinking about using Prazipro in my DT.

I've also got Microbe-Lift Herbtana that is supposed to do basically the same eradication of parasites and said to be reef safe. Can I use this or should I get Prazipro? Is it safe for wrasses

Any and all opinions welcomed. Yes I have done my Google searches and read a lot on both. Just want your personal experience with either or both

Prazi IME has only made some corals not extend fully but did no long term damage. Clams didn't love it but it didn't hurt them either. I don't have but one wrasse (melanarus) and It has handled PP and CP many times over. Im not familiar with the Herbtana

Same here , anemones and corallimorphs didn't love it but were fine...

Seemed to have no effect on snails , hermits and shrimps....Apparently it kills tube worms , feather dusters and such but mine just tucked in their heads and came out after water change.

Both are perfectly reef safe. Herbtana is useless IMO (similar product to Melafix).

I use prazipro on all of my wrasses with no I'll effects, 3 different fairies and a flasher. I still plan on adding a couple halichoeres wrasses and treating those with praziquantel as well.

Ugh, I may have to prazi my display. My fish all go through prazi in QT, and most times 2 rounds, but a few fish are still showing signs of internal worms. Losing weight and stringy poop.
Prazi 1000g will be a lot of $$$$

Oh man that is going to suck. 1 Gallon of it is $150+ last time I checked and that was a few years ago.

Yeah a 16oz bottle cost $30, but it does 2000g. So I'll get 2 treatments out of it.
Still cheaper than losing the 3 anthias that have the worms

There is also a chance that the worms your fish have cannot be treated with Praziquantel. You may want to try Seachem Metro+Focus or NLS Hex Shield.

Reef safe with caution at best. Praziquantel will kill all worms in the tank, regardless if ornamental, beneficial, benign or parasitic.
Wiping out a whole clade of animals is not something I would call reef safe.

I've only used prazi with crabs and snails in the tank. Worked well. Lucky enough not to try it on a more stocked reef setting.. Heard it's ok...

Unfortunately it does not. Most, but not all. It is relatively rare to have a species that prazi doesn't kill, but it does happen on occasion.

Don't get your hopes up.....Prazipro killed none of my bristle worms, none of my spaghetti worms , none of my Tube worms or feather dusters , didn't harm eunicid worms either ...

It was a preventive treatment , honestly I don't like to quarantine fish that are diggers because they stress out in a bare bottom tank.
So the fish that I was preventively treating never showed signs of intestinal parasite other than being very thin.

Now they're fat and well. But maybe never had issues. So I don't really know if it was effective....

I'm not sure how you can make such a statement when you follow it with the lack of personal experience on the subject.

Your assumption is incorrect. With my personal experience using Prazipro in my DT I found the following. It will kill very few worms in the display. It did not kill bristle worms, spaghetti worms, or the acoel flatworms in my refugium. It did kill SOME of my "hitchhiker" feather dusters, skin flukes, and whatever type of internal parasites were ailing my potters wrasse.

I generally quarantine everything in a sterile quarantine tank as well, but this time I unfortunately had just moved across the country and didn't have the space yet.
