Hi
Can anybody tell me if this product is safe to use in a DT with sps, lps and a large clam i also have peppermints, harlequin shrimps and clean up crew.

thanks Bill

I have heard some hobbyist say it is and they didn't have any ill effects from it. Some have said that their inverts and coral took a hit, but bounced back after awhile.

Many thanks for the response i have ordered some so will use it and update in the near future.I was concerned about the clam its a large one and i have had it for 4 years i started to set up a quarantine tank yesterday to put it in .

I also lost 2 wrasses to PP and I also had 2 to make it through the treatment. I have heard some wrasses are sensitive to PP. Just FYI, if you have any, be watchful.

Good point. I haven't lost any wrasses but they make it clear they don't enjoy the treatment (stop eating and hide for a few days).

Any treatment in the DT is a risk, even with PraziPro.
One thing that would concern me is the need to turn off the skimmer.
Another one would be a possible die-off of worms which could then foul the water.
Another often neglected issue is to get the dosage right in the DT as hardly anyone knows precisely the pure water volume of his tank. In addition to that there are also a host of other unknowns.
So, unless there is absolutely no other option, I would avoid treatments in the DT like the plague and rather do all treatments in the controlled environment of a hospital tank.

I've given up trashing my DT to retreat again for flukes. I followed all the qt rules, and they still came back with a vengeance.

I have dosed my sps reef with prazi as of yesterday. All is well.

Make sure to aerate it BIG TIME. I have 2 air pumps with air stones. One in the sump and one in the DT. If you don't aerate well, the fish will suffocate.

My tank is full of dead flukes after 24 hours.

On Monday night, I'm going to do a 30% water change, and hit it again. I think I'll do 3 treatments just to make extra extra sure I got them all.

Take the collection cup off the skimmer and the skimmer can be left on. The biggest issue with Praziquantel is the oxygen it takes out of the water. Wrasse and butterflies seem to be the most prone to negative effects from prazi. Lps will recede during the treatment for sure and your clams may not open as much as normal. Prazi is considered the safest treatment out there

Question. Can I turn on my halides while dosing my tank with prazi? Or will the uv in the radium degrade the prazi

A UV sterilizer should be turned off but MH lighting won't do anything to the prazi. Prazi will work within the first 24 hrs, if flukes remain that means they are resistant and double or triple the dose may be required.

Hi
The prazi went in Saturday afternoon , carbon off ,UV off , skimmer cup removed but left running and i placed an air tone in the tank and one in the return section of the sump up to now i have not lost any more fish and the sps ,lps and clam seem to be ok.The large foxface was eating again this morning .I wish i had heard of prazi a couple of weeks ago before i lost my 6'' achilles( absolutley gutted) all this hassle after putting in 2 ventralis anthias in the DT up to then never had any issues with my tank.
It says on day 6/7 put carbon ,UV and skimmer back on add a polyfiler and do a large water change after 3 days treat again as above i have missed anything.

thanks Bill

Hah, I was just going to start a new thread on this.

My new-ish Orange Back Wrasse was hiding a ton and pooping white. Not stringy, just white. Flashing on the overflow. Upon inspection, looked like he had some discoloration, or possibly external flukes attached. Tough to tell. Tried to get him out of the DT, no way.

I have used prazi in my previous DT before, no issues. So I have a 120g tank, with 30g sump, assume 150g of water. I dosed 40 ml of prazi, which is a bit more than recommended. Other fish in tank lyretail anthias and Tomini tang. Dosed after lights out. A couple seconds after dosing, I could literally see things dying and releasing into the water column. The anthias was eating them up as fast as she could.

THEN I read about prazi possibly affecting wrasses. Ruh-roh. I got real nervous and went to bed. Next day, when the lights came on, this wrasse looked like a new fish. There were no more color blotches, may have been external parasites anyway, no hiding, no flashing, and the biggest white poop I have ever seen a fish poop was falling out of her rear. Like the time my 2-yo was impacted and we had to go to the ER.

I dosed on Saturday night, and same holds true today. Fish looks great. No clamped fins, swimming in the open, etc. Great success.

So now I'm getting ready for the second dose, which 5 nights after Saturday would be Thursday evening. I'm going to dial it back a little to 30 ml.

The only critter I saw affected, possibly, was the one nass. snail that was above the sand when the dose went in. He doesn't look great but is improving.

I just did a 20% wc and put my skimmer back on. I swear sps loves this stuff lol.

I'm dosing again tomorrow.

My emp looks a million times better. Still not 100% but much better. Everything else just looks amazing. But my lavender tang is attacking himself in the glass.

Clown show!
