Pre-purchase question on 1600/2 or 1200/2

I'm looking at purchasing a 1600/2 or 1200/2 powerhead that I would be using in my nano tank to pump water from the "sump" in the back half of the tank to the display in the front half (I have one of those all in one tanks with the sump/equipment area in the back). I have three questions I hope you can help me with:

1) Can I hook up flexible tubing or a PVC fitting to either these pumps?

2) Can you tell me the dimensions of the pumps (height, width, length)? I need to know if it will fit in the back of my tank.

3) I've looked at the places I normally shop for equipment, and nobody seems to have either of these pumps. Do you know a vendor where I can purchase them?

Thanks,
Brad

Cable length: 2 m; 80"
Dimensions: ø 98 x 90 mm; ø 3.9 x 3.5"
Outlet diam.: ø 10.5 / 8 mm; ø 0.41 / 0.31"
Inlet diam.: ø 25 / 21 mm; 0.98 / 0.83"

Turbelle ® 1600/2
Output: 1620 l/h; 427 gal/h
Pumping head H.max: 1.3 m; 51"
Speed control: No
Pump wattage: 12 W
Voltage / Frequency: 230 V / 50 Hz (115 V / 60 Hz)
Cable length: 2 m; 80"
Dimensions: ø 98 x 104 mm; ø 3.9 x 4.1"
Outlet diam.: ø 25 / 21 mm; ø 0.98 / 0.83"
Inlet diam.: ø 25 / 21 mm; 0.98 / 0.83"

flexible tubing is possible on both these models, regards supply I have a link here http://tunze.com/haendler.html?&L=1&C=US to dealer address's.
Roger will have a better idea of who may have stock on hand in the USA.

Regards
Graeme

Unfortunately both pumps are out of stock, the 1200/2 is really the better return pump. It is made as a return pump. Both of these pumps can be plumbed with metric 25mm PVC pipe which I do have in stock. Alternatively you could use our 1073.03 which uses 3/4" PVC pipe. Marine Depot would have this model in stock as it is far more popular.

Thanks for your help. It looks like I might need the 1200/2 because it's a bit smaller. I'm a little confused by the measurements, though. These nano tanks are tight quarters, and I'm just trying to make sure it will fit before I place an order. The specifications you provided have two measurements, but it seems to be there should be three numbers, right, length, width, and height? I guess all I really need to know is:

1) The measurement from the tip of the inlet on the bottom (without the strainer) to the top of the pump (the side where the cord comes out).

2) The measurement side to side, for the part where the circular cover is the widest point. What the measurement across that circular cover?

Do the measurements on the specs you posted match up with either of the measurements I am looking for?

Thanks!

Roger,
I actually looked at the 1073.03, too, but at it's lowest variable speed it has half again (35w) the wattage of the 1200/2 (23w), and more than double the wattage at its highest speed (55w). I don't really care other than the heat it generates. I'm tyring to keep this tank running without a chiller if at all possible. Do you know if the 1073.03 adds more heat because of the higher wattage? Other than heat, I have no problem using the 1073.03, which, as you said, is much easier to find.

I see these measurements on the Tunze site for the 1073.03:
Housing without outlet and suction cups: 103 x 91 x 75 mm (4.0 x 3.5 x 2.95 in.)
Do you know which measurement is which (length, width, height) assuming the pump is positioned with the outlet pointing up? Again, sorry for the details, but space is at a premium in these nano tanks!

Thanks,
Brad

The 1200/2 is definitely cooler running, the 1073.03 is cheaper, easier to plumb and a bit more tolerant of neglect. I won't argue with the notion that the 1200/2 is better than the 1073.03, it is. I sold out a few months ago and the priority has been catching up on the higher demand products so I have not recieved any 1200/2 in a while. The 1073.03 is 4" long, 3.5" high and 2.95" wide if it is laying down with the outlet pointed straight up.

Thanks for the reply. In short, I'm really just looking for a reliable and low wattage pump that will fit in the small space I have. It doesn't have to be really high flow, just enough to move water between the display side and filter side of the nano tank. When push comes to shove, even a 1000/2 or a 800/2 would probably suffice becase the real flow in the display is coming from a pair of 6055's on a 7095 controller. I just know you all have reliable pumps, and they generally seem to be noticeably lower wattage than the competition, so I thought I would check for a Tunze option first.

I know this is getting a bit more expensive, but do you think a 7200/2 electronic would work? Can I get either flexible tubing or a PVC fitting (to convert to flexible tubing) to connect to it?

If you have a 1000/2 or a 800/2, or if a 7200/2 would work, can you answer these questions about the dimensions (it looks like all three of those are probably the same size) so I know if it would fit or not:

1) The measurement from the tip of the inlet on the bottom (without the strainer) to the top of the pump (the side where the cord comes out).

2) The measurement side to side, for the part where the circular cover is the widest point. What is the measurement across that circular cover?

Thanks!

Can you bump this on Monday and I will measure the pumps to be sure?

I have a 600/2 in stock and I have 7200/2 in stock. I will send a PM.

Roger,
You asked me to bump this thread back up for you today to get a detailed measurement on the 7200/2 for me. Specifically I need:

1) The measurement from the tip of the inlet on the bottom (without the long strainer) to the top of the pump (the side where the cord comes out).

2) The measurement side to side, for the part where the circular cover is the widest point. What is the measurement across that circular cover?

Thanks for your help,
Brad
