Preventing blurred photos

Hey guys, I have a question. Whenever I try to take pictures of my reef tank, I get this outcome. Pretty good to decent photos with my camera phone, but awul photos on a real camera. The problem with the photos from the real camera, is that they're blurred. My question to you all, is how can I prevent this?

tagging along. Interested in hearing other's suggestions. I have the same problems no matter what mode I set my canon power shot to.

do not shoot the picture on an angle through the glass. Try shooting it straight through the glass and if your camera has a close-up option on it try that.

Also, check the minimum focusing distance for whatever mode you're using. For example, if I don't zoom I can have the lens right on the glass. The more I zoom the more I have to back away from the tank in order for the camera to focus.

Hope that makes sense.

The main thing that I learned was to to use the Macro mode on the camera and I bought a tripod. The tripod helped 100%. Also, turn off your powerheads and return pump to settle any marine snow that may be floating around you tank. I just learned about these a month or so ago. Here is my first pic trying the above.
