Was my favorite fish before I redid my reef. Now I have some again. I haz a happy :D

Never kept one but they sure are gorgeous. I seem to recall that they are somewhat cryptic? Do they come out? Can you have more than one?

These are cool little fish. When I upgraded from my 360 when we broke down the tank we found one of these guys living in the tank. A total surprise. When I setup the 400 with identical aquascaping, this little guy moved into the open space under the island on the right side of the tank and was visible in quite often. When I say visible, I mean if you looked inside the cave, sometime with a flashlight you could spot him. I don't think he ever came out from the darkness.

I've had one for a couple of years and it used to come out for a while most evenings. About six months back one of my favourite fish shops had another one in (don't seem to see them very often over here) and I took a chance on it.
They seem to have paired up fine (usually both are under the same rock or fairly close by). Funny thing is though that the first one doesn't come out for its evening 'promenade' any more. I think I may have got lucky though because the above-mentioned fish shop tried it will a couple and there was Hell to pay!

Usually get a quick glimpse of them when food goes in and I can usually find them if I go looking but definitely cryptic.

It really depends what is in the tank. No big or busy fish, and the goby will cruise the tank from one perch to the next, IME.

Happy to report at least 3 of the 4 are accounted for, and dart out for food without issue.

Now, to get some yellow ones :)

I had a pair that lived behind a giant chalice on my back glass but I moved it one day and never saw them again. I'm not sure if they're still in there or not.

I ordered a yellow one from LADD one time but ended up canceling the order when I saw they were from Japan and needed colder water. Are the yellow ones from other locations too?

I think there are several species that look very similar, and I would doubt the common, inexpensive yellow ones I normally see are from temperate Japanese waters.

I'd snag the one on DD if I didn't think the Randall would have an issue with him, it is stunning.

I have a Wheeler's shrimp goby in with mine without problems. The shrimp goby lives on the sand bed whereas the Priolepsis are in caves higher up in the rockwork.
