Prisitine plumbing thread!

watsonj,

I am speechless. this ranks in the top 3 setups I've ever seen.

Please provide a link to Your thread when You'll start one.

Once again - i am astonished at the quality of your build.

That's super slick Watson!

Here are some drawings from the original design to help you understand my sump. Its all glass I got from a Habitat For Humanity outlet. The glass was shelving originally I think

The plumbing under my tank is pretty clean and simple, sch80 pipe to 3/4" vinyl for the last section into the sump. However, it's the clear piping up top that I'm proud of. 3/4" PVC drain and a 1/2" acric lily pipe return that I fabbed up.

Looks great where did you get the clear pipe and fittings from?

Clear pvc is cool looking. The reason you do not see it much in the hobby is because it is also a magnet for algae growth.
That's why I paint my plumbing. The darker the environment, less algae growth.
If you have a way to ream the clear once a week it can stay clear for a long time.
Enjoy it!

Watsonj do you have a build thread? I am planning a system and would like to see more pics and details. Beautiful setup.

I bought the bulkheads and clear pvc from Jameco. They were very nice about my small order of parts. The lily pipe I made from acrylic tube that I bought from a local plastics manufacturer.

I have a long flexible bottle brush that I can run down the pipes. Takes about 1 minute once a week. Worth every second to me. With a rimless tank and only an MP10 in the display, I wanted minimal visual intrusion from the equipment

Here's my humble attempt at a functional and "clean" plumbing system.

is there a reason you put an overflow box in the fuge rather than just having the water go over the glass baffel?

noise was a main reason but another is salt creep. I had the box left over from another project so it worked out well. look out for a build thread coming to a theater near you
