Prisitine plumbing thread!

Just finished mine. I need to make a few adjustments to get it super quiet but the bones are all there.

Nice work, very clean.

Yes. I used a heat gun and metal spring. There is also 4 bent pipes on the outside of the tank to keep it clean looking.

Your plumbing is amazing, I'm super jealous. How hard was it to bend the pipes? All I have is a hair dryer :bounce3:

Its very easy, however I dont know if a hairdryer will be able to get it hot enough. I also used metal springs to keep the width of the pipe consistent. You can do without but know you may get more pinching and an oblong shape to the pipe where you bend.

Very nice work, only thing that looks out of place to me is the return from the reactors. it just kinda doesnt go with the rest of the ridgid perfect pipe..

but thats my opinion. obviously it doesnt matter haha.

Looks great! Did you put the spring on the inside or the outside? Can you share the specs on the spring? Definitely need to do this...

I would think it would have to be on the inside to keep the pvc from collapsing on itself.

I want to see the spring.

I do the exact same thing and also use the spring. it does go on the inside to prevent it from collapsing in on itself.

Yep spring goes on the inside. I believe I used the Morris ones as well. A little spendy but the coils are very tight and it leaves a great uniform arc.

Photo of when I was cutting making a mess in the basement.

On the outside of the tank I have 4 pipes that all needed to have the same arc and radius so I made a mold as well.

I wanted soft tubing for the output line as I settled on having the exit go into the filter sock. The last chamber of the reactor is biopellets and I wanted the chaff to get filtered out.

I also use it as an easy water change line. I put my finger on the output and then bend it into a 5 gallon bucket to preform a water change. Its also handy to flush carbon and gfo in the reactors when they are refilled.

Man, I wish I would have heard about bending PVC a couple weeks ago. Here is my build.

I still need to hook up the Rollermat and the reactors.

Yes I still need to do wire MGMT too :)

I'm so confused by your sump pic. How does the flow work with the 3 baffles all being flush with the sump bottom? Is there something I'm not seeing? I do like the organization of your piping though. And I really wish I knew about pipe bending! Ingenious.i now need to redo all my plumbing that way.

You can't tell by this pic, but there are notches cut from the bottom of the baffles. I have no idea why the manf did that as opposed to just mount the baffle off the bottom. It does look cool though :)

There is also a baffle behind the steel bar too, separating the drain area from the skimmer section. I removed the sock holder

Notches were most likely so the baffles do not sit in the bottom silicone.
Baffles are supposed to maintain a water height in a compartment.
Being mounted off the bottom would not accomplish this.
