Problem with a carpet.

Decided to get a larger carpet for some of our clowns to host and this guy doesnt seem to happy. It was footed at the LFS but does not seem to want to do so in my tank. I have another in the same tank that has been in the same spot since it went in the tank some 4 months ago. The plan was to introduce the new anemone and then relocate the smaller one to another tank once the fish had moved.

It has been pulled up into powerheads twice and simply does not seem to want to be anywhere in the tank. I noticed last night that it's mouth is not closing and that has me worried.

It still fills out and the female clown took to it almost immediately.

We have 7 other anemones(3 different tanks) and I have never had any problem like this before.

Params for this tank are:

Salinty: 1.024
Nitrates and nitrites are undetectable
ph is stable at 8.2
CA: 420
alk: 9dkh

I even did a 25% WC to help make sure things were in check and to remove some of the slime the anemone secreted after being sucked into the powerhead. I'm stumped.

Any suggestions on what's going on here would be much appreciated.

do you know what type of carpet it is?
could you post a pic?

a carpet being sucked into a powerhead could be pretty serious.

Id turn off ph till he get happy. if you have to diff species of carpest in 1 tank you will have a problem if the tank is not big enough.

Going off what Charlie said, when I tried to mix my Haddoni with another anemone (( LTA in my case )) neither anemone was happy, that was the only time the Haddoni moved.

I don't know the species and can't take pictures till I get home from work.

The carpets look very similar with the exception of size. Even the color is very close. Both are a light green.

Here is a picture of the original.

The new one looks just like it but is about 2x the size

for size reference, the female clown is about 3.5" in length and the male is 2.5".
