Hello,
Today while removing the skimmer cup assembly from the skimmer, the cup seperated from the base. It almost like it was never glued very well. See pics below. As a result all the skimate went in to the sump. Is there a way to get this replaced? I'm able to use if for now but it is leaking a bit and it's almost impossible to remove with out spilling it.

Ordered 12/19/07
Order # 159787A

Thanks,
JB

Hi JB
We are very sorry this happened ,The cup is glued @ the base this could have happened during transport & took sometime for the cup to come undone.
No worries ,that is under warranty & we will take care of you right away.
We are making arrangements to send you a new cup asap.
Meanwhile do not hesitate to seal it with some glue or silicone.

Once again sorry for the inconviniece .

I've got the same issue, but don't think mine is still covered under warranty. I picked it up used a few months ago.

At first, I assumed this was just the design, because the parts were machined so well, that just resting the ring of the cup on the base created a seal that would hold water. But it's starting to leak more, and just collecting thicker sludge in the bottom of the cup.

Any recommendations for what to use to re-glue this? Thanks.

It doesn't sound like you're experiencing the same issue. The cup is supposed to rest right on the body and seal. If it's not then you probably just need to replace the o-ring around the white pvc lip that sits on the body. What was referred to above was a customer who has the actual cup walls itself come unglued from the white base of the cup.

Thanks for the reply, and sorry for not posting a photo earlier with my message.

I believe mine has come apart. The other thing I notice is that there's not an O-ring on the top side of the cup base, but there is a groove that looks like it may be there to hold one. There is an O-ring on the bottom of the cup base, where the cup sits in the body.

So maybe I need to order an O-ring, and then glue the cup walls back to the base? Like I said in my previous post, it wasn't obvious to me that something wasn't right. The skimmer is built so well, that for weeks the cup was holding skimmate just from gravity, and the weight of the lid.

I ended up taking the cup down to Plasticare, and they recommended trying Weld-On 16. I did so, and it seems to have worked well, but I didn't use quite enough to get a full seal. After a second pass, it should be waterproof.
