Problem with holding water

I finished filling up my 30 Gallon rubbermaid trash bin two days ago with RO water. Yesterday I started mixing in the salt to get it to the right salinity. This morning I checked out the salinity and it was way over the 1.025 mark. I was planning on using this water for my Oceanic 14 gallon cube. Since the Salinity is so high what would be the best way to fill my 14 cube to achieve the correct reading?

I am a newbie too, so here is what I have learned in this situation.

First, make sure your salinity measuring device is accurate. Make sure there are no air bubbles on it either.

If one is available, you could take a sample to a LFS and have them test it also. Just to compare you know?

If it REALLY IS that high, you can add more RO water to the SW until it reaches what you want. If you can't add anymore water, get another container, maybe a 5 gallon bucket (clean, not used to clean the bathroom, etc.) and fill it with 4 gallons and add RO water until its where you want it. Repeat the process until you have the 14G you need. THEN add more RO water to your 30 container until you reached your desired salinity and you're set for your next few water changes.
