problems, problems, problems

Yesterday, I came back from running some errands to find my Lawnmower Blennie (Mabeline - Sorry, Janie) dead, and after looking around I discovered that my peppermint shrimp was also dead. I examined the blennie and could see no sign of injury or illness.

Today several corals seem withdrawn including my frogspawn, and a brain coral. Also, my maroon clownfish are hiding at the back of the tank.

I did all the tests I could last night and all seemed normal.

NH3 - test solution dried up
NO2 - 0
NO3 - 0 - 0.1
PO4 - 0
Salinity - 1.026-1.027
temperature - 81
pH - 8.4
Calcium - 400
Hardness - 4 degrees (German)

No equipment problems that I can find. I did a 20% water change last night and added some new carbon in the sump.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Salinity a bit high, alkalinity waaaaay low. Are you dosing? I bet you have a bit of ammonia as well after the die-off.

Good grief, first Garrett now you are having issues today. Must be something in the nasty Knoxville air. Sure sorry for your loss, especially Mabeline, she was such a character. Hoe you are able to identify and rectify the issue fast.

I have a ground probe in the aquarium and everything that is in contact with the water is on a ground fault plug, and my Duncan which is very sensitive to upsets is out and not showing any obvious stress. When I had a heater break he disappeared for three days, so I don't think stray voltage is the problem, but I'm not ruling out anything.

I dose with a two part calcium/alkalinity system daily.

Thanks
