Prodibio BioKit - Will start on Monday evening

I do weekly 10% water changes. I have an aquac 240 skimmer w/mag18 pump. 3 Koralia 4's and 1 Koralia 3 in my 150. Red slime still occurs. I think the new dosing schedule should help.

Well, I went on a business trip for 2 weeks. When I returned, I notice the corals were sort of pale. I did a 20% water change. Also, I have to clean the glass more often. I am not pleased so far. The urchins clean more of the rock than the bioclean. I am not too sure of the product. I am testing and the results are good.

I am getting a little tired of the chase to get a healthy colorful tank. Very tired. And the expense. Now I am told that I may need another skimmer. I am using the Octopus NW 150 on my 90g.

I am going to set a time limit. This is the final year, 2008.

I feel your pain. I stopped using the Bioclean because of the same issue. I started getting Algae all over my glass. I am dosing a carbon source now. Vodka, vinegar and sugar. It has seemed to be working. I only clean my glass pain off once a week.
While I was using the Prodibio, I noticed my SPS frags started to get pale. Once again I stopped using it and increased the amount of feeding and yesterday I notice a considerable amount of color has come back to my SPS's. I have wanted to throw in the towel, but my wife will not let me. She sees how much I enjoy it. Maybe before you quit, try going back to the basics of reefkeeping. Even though I am using the probiotic method, I am very skeptical about it. I mean there are alot of reefer on here that have georgous SPS tanks and they practice the basic methods. Maybe that is the key. Oh yeah I have a Euro Ref RS180 it is rated for 180 + system. I have a 120 low load (5 fish)system. (90 gallon display w/ a 30 gallon sump) I am pulling out some dark green skimmate but not alot of it. in a weeks time I normally produce about a cup maybe 2 cups (not the skimmer collection cup) of skimmate. Not sure if I should be producing more. Again I don't have a big fish load. My Macroalgae has stopped growing. I would just give it some more time and moaybe go back to the basics and prefect those once again and then in the future give it another go. I two like to tinker around w. my equipment, I think that is apart of the hobby. What I do is set a time in the morning before work and just enjoy the display. Watch the fish. I put lotion on my hands so I won't put them in the tank. That keeps me going.

Have you guys tried just using the biodigest? My cyano stopped coming back after I just used biodigest. I've had a pale cap in my tank before prodibio and it's still pale with prodibio. My other corals, however are colorful and growing nicely. My skimmer is also undersized for my entire system.

Do you guys ever feel like the Reef Booster isnt enough for your corals? I mean I add the reef booster once a week and many of the corals bring out their feeding polyps during this but for healthier corals it seems to me that the corals should be fed with reef booster or something similar daily. Once a week sounds too little compared to 7/24 present of the food in nature.

The Urchins are cleaning the rocks and I am very pleased....
I placed the urchin in the tank on May 12, 2008.

Here are some more of the tank today:

The color turn a pale color after a month of using Prodibio. I start the reefbooter in May and the colors started to be more saturated. I am still not happy with the results. After 2 months of using the stuff. I don't know if it worth the money.

I plan to get a more efficency skimmer and one that will handle a larger tank, maybe 200 gallons. My system is a 90g. I am currently using an Octopus NW150.

All of the "white" tracks are made by the two urchins in the tank. I had 3, but one died a week after I introduced it to the tank.

I had the octopus NW 200 did not like how it performed. I modded it and it performed a little better. Then I got the EuroReef RS180. It is an awesome skimmer. I am not knocking the Octopus skimmers just wanted to say that maybe you can mesh mod it first and see if that works. IF not i recommend the EuroReef skimmer.

My corals have been really pale, but I let a couple weeks go by w/o water changes and I started feeding more (ie. I use to drain the water when the food melted, I don't anymore) I added a little more selcon to the food mix and I had a spot of Nitrates, my corals have started to color back up.
Thats crazy right, we are trying to have a LNS low Nutreint Sys. and we find out that the corals actually needs N03.

My bubbly, Reefahoy, started feeding more and his corals are coloring up nicely. He got a nice bubble king skimmer; therefore, he is able to feed more. He lend me his NW 150 and I will place it in the sump this weekend. I don't have the extra funds at this time to purchase another skimmer so I will run two NW150 in the sump and feed more.

ever since i got the bigger skimmer my corals began to lighten up considerably. i then started to feed ALOT more to the tank and the corals began to color up. the skimmer i have is rated for 265 i also have a 90 gal tank. if i throw in food to the tank at say 10 pm after lights out, the skimmer takes it out quickly so when i feed, i literally feed 2 to 3 times the amount the bottle says. by the next morning the skimmer has taken it out. i still measure 0 phosphates and have to wipe my aquarium glass say 1 to 2 times a week. i've stopped measuring phosphates in my tank now because ever since i've added the skimmer, phosphate has been undetectable.

You know, it ironic that we are using this product to take the nutrients out off our system, but at the same time we are doubling up on the feeding so we can put the nutrients back into our systems. Don't you think that we are contradicting ourselves? If we stop the prodibio and just run a skimmer and continue feeding the tank then we should see some nice colors. I have stopped the bioclean. I am using the vodka, sugar and vinegar mix and every other week I add the Biodigest. Let me tell you that I haven't had to clean my glass since Sunday and there is very little buildup on it. Also my rocks are clearing up of any traces of algae. I like this better than the Bioclean.

Yeah, there's actually some reading/evidence out there that says corals need some nitrates.

I have read on the Zeo forum that the are actually adding Nitrates to their tanks. So why do we pay this money for the prodibio kits?

My colors and I suspect everyones colors fade when using a probiotic method. I just recently starting using Zeo aminos and I can not tell you how much PE and color I am getting now. I also changed my dosing schedule. I only dose Optim or Digest each week, alternating between the two. My redslime is gone (for now at least) and corals are looking richer.

Colors are coming back for sure !!!
