I dont know if you drip kalk or not but you could drip kalk at night to help out with your PH drop up to you.

I thought about doing that, but won't it raise the alkalinity also?

I am running a test tonight to see if there is too much C02 in the air in the room the tank is in. I have run an air line from my skimmer to the outside and I am waiting to see if this pulls the Ph up some. It is sitting at 7.8 right now, and my lights just went out for the day. I recalberated my probe tonight also just in case.

Yea thats my problem i can only drip kalk 5 times in the night for about 15 min each to keep my alk at 8.6 and it keeps my ph from falling below 7.7. So i to have very low ph due to co2 in my house, so now that the a/c is on my ph stays low so im running 7.7-7.9 without any ill effects. Some will say your hurting the corals which may be true and i wish my PH was higher then this but i know many people who run there ph low like this. Someone even told me once that some reefers dont like there PH above 8 not really sure why though lol.

Your corals are absolutely stunning!!! How do you capture their colors so well?

Thanks for the compliment! I shoot in raw and use a photo box.

Well after running my test last night I don't think my problem is excess C02. I ran my skimmer with outside air for 3 hours and the Ph just contiuned to drop. It got down to 7.68 last night. I can't figure out why the drop. Maybe the increased bacterial fauna is contributing? So far everything in the tank looks fine and continues to grow. I just wish I could get it up a little higher.

Dosing times.

Dosing times.

What time of day do you dose digest & bioptim? Does it matter?

I have been dosing mine after lights out and I am curious if it makes any difference. Thanks.

Makes no difference, just dose whenever it's easiest for your schedule.

Some Growth photos

Some Growth photos

I thought I would post a few growth photos of my frags since starting prodibio.

This first photo is of a little brown stick of a frag that I picked up the beginning of June from the LFS. This was the first sps in the tank.

This is the same coral on July 27th. It has thickened up and is starting to branch out. The polyps are a pretty bright green. These two photos don't do it justice.

The same frag the end of July. It is a pretty greenish blue.

This is a photo of a brown millie at the beginning of June. It has shown good growth since I got it but has only recently started to color up.

Nice results. Try not to use the flash on your camera. The flash is around 5500K and most reef lights are above 10K.

Increase your ASA or use a tripod with the pump and powerheads off.

I will post my system soon. The corals are coloring slowly. I have been battling red hair algea. Not a lot, but I have attacked it now before it speads.

Nice results. I have started dosing digest and bioptim and I have noticed that my nitrates have dropped allot. After a few more weeks I will then start dosing Booster.

I was using a Octopus NW 150 for over a year with my 90G. I replaced the unit with a Octopus Pro 250 a month ago. I am very please with the purchase. I replaced it for two reasons, 1, I plan to go to a 120 next year, 2, I wanted a skimmer that is 2 to 3 times the volume of my system.

Thanks for the tips Dolby. I sure do have a lot to learn about photographing corals. I never seem to be able to capture the true colors. I will try some of your tips.

I am using a ATB cone medium

I have been looking at those skimmers for my dream tank. They sure do produce some of the nastiest nog I have ever seen.

I am using the needle wheel that came with the cadlights. It is rated for a 100g tank and I am guessing mine holds around 34-35g after the rock and sand. It produces a nice amount of skimmate and I am happy with it thus far, but it isn't in the same league as the ATB's or other super skimmers.

What kind of skimmer is everyone running while dosing the Prodibio?

Deltec AP701 on a 90g. :)

August 8, 2008 update

August 8, 2008 update

I have made a few changes since I added the Octopus Pro 250 to my system. 1. I dose vodka (1ml/day). 2. I have treated the tank for red hair algea three times with chemclean. 3. I have performed weekly water changes for the past month. I plan to return to biweekly the end of the month. 4. I install the UV light last week. I plan to use it until the end of the month. 5 I still dose BioClean biweekly, but not the Reefboost since the red hair algea outbreak. 6. The RTN on a couple of coral stopped and the coral have recovered. 7. I removed the UVL T5 75/25 and gave it to my buddy Reefsahoy. I now run 4-T5 with 2 UVL Super Actinics, one purple Gassesman (I think that is pure Actinic) and One Gassesman Actinic plue.

I hope to be switching to total T5 in September 2008. I want to cut my energy cost and remove the 2-250W MH.

Here are photos with T5s only: The color is a little too blue, but the photos are as true to live as I can capture.

My colors have improved a lot in the past 4 months. I am still looking for the "pop" I see with Zeovit tanks.

I am heading to the Bay Area in California in 3 weeks. If I see some colorful corals, I plan to purchase. I have to figure out how to get them back to Florida.

Any suggests?

I have too much green in my tank. I want yellows, orange, pinks, etc....

Dolby,

Is there an advantage to doing vodka in addition to the Bioclean?

I have been wondering if dosing the carbon source every 14 days is enough to keep nutrients low? I am still growing chaeto in my fudge, and have quite alot of Lobophora and red turf algae after 5 weeks on prodibio.

I think your corals are looking great. I can't wait to see that kind of growth on my frags.
