Prodibio BioKit - Will start on Monday evening

I know Prodibio changed the formula on the biodigest many months ago, they put a sticker on top stating "new formula"

I turn my skimmer off after dosing any Prodibio products, I don't want anything being skimmed if i can help it.
Sometimes I leave the skimmer off all day, you don't have to run a skimmer 24/7 everything should do just fine.

I was talking with a couple french guys from Prodibio last weekend, it is pretty cool that they come out here every year to talk to hobbiest's one on one.
I think thats pretty good customer support there, it's too bad it is only once per year though.

That said I think I am close to 2 years into Prodibio now and the tank is looking great and I've never had any negative issues only positive.

Oh and the new "pro" large amp version of optim is now double ended so once you break both ends it dumps out and you dont have to shake it out.
I thought that was a great idea.

thanks reefkoi for the info- i just started dosing prodibio. I read that you are supposed to mix the vials with a liter or so of saltwater before adding to your tank- obviously those with sumps wont have to pay as much attention to this. newbs like myself on the other hand will.

my question: do you have a routine about dosing each supplement in relation with the other? - i started with the digest and optim last night (skimmer off) and went with a strontium dose tonight (skimmer off again for the night). I think its good to give the skimmer a rest and let the organics build up for a few hours while the bacteria multiplies- so thanks for confirming that practice.

any other tips with the prodibio products fellow reefkeepers? Supposedly the potato storage is supposed to be okay- but why pay for supplements that are sealed in nitrogen to prevent oxidation, only to "save" half of the vial for use later? I thought the whole point of the vial approach was to keep the bacteria fresh and in perfect proportion... just my thoughts..

dobly- your tank is looking great- keep up the good work.

I am starting the use of Prodibio this weekend.

Question, most everyone here is talking stricktly about there SPS I currently have a mixed tank with softies, Lps and some SPS, is this going to have a negative affect on the Softies and LPS?

Has anyone actually "seen any affects on these"??

also I am currently running a seperate refugium with a DSB. Should I cut them out of the system or will this have a negative affect on the DSB and refugium?

I know that we will be utilzing much of the same thing with the refugium DSB, that we are using the Prodibio for but will this destroy the macroalgae and bacteria in the DSB or just restrct its growth due to the decrease in nutrients?

I do not want to cause a greater problem by killing this and increasing that into the load.

omg my head hurts i just read this whole thread. lol i have a 375 gal tank and a 180 gal sump my question is i have zero nussiance algae in the tank i skim very heavy i have an rc500 on the tank a fuge with macro algae in it and a ssb in the main display. do you think i could just go with the reef booster only? plus aa? and skip the 1st part of the prodibio? i also have a phos reactor that i run with gfo and rox carbon. i just would like better color on my sps corals i have really good pe just think the color could be better.

I am no expert on Prodibio, but I would say you should still run a few weeks of the Biodigest and Bioptim before adding Reefbooster/AA... I was testing 0 acrossthe board for all nutrients and was still told I should go through the initial starting period of Prodibio... Plus I've heard that if your system is not ready and you add Reefbooster/AA, you can get algae blooms... Just my opinion. Good Luck and keep us updated...

It's a system, skipping out on this or that in lieu of vodka or nothing, is not going to give you the best results IMO.

Who know's though.........

Reefbooster is a very concentrated food source. I use it along with biodigest and Bio optim. Its a system that has worked for me but I have heard of people just using Reefbooster, I think there was a TOTM using only RB. However I would recommend a good AA over using RB only. If you have low nutrients and want better color without going the whole hog with Prodibio. Along with RB I dose Fauna Marin Ultramin S and it is amazing. I have almost completely stopped dosing RB and just use the Fauna Marin. My colors are off the hook now after having paled quite a bit initially. I have been using the Prodibio system for 8-9 months now.

Finally, you will have to turn off your skimmer with Reefbooster, I keep mine off for 8-12 hours after dosing. I dont turn off after dosing Fauna Marin.

I am interested in staring Prodibio, but I do not know how I should start it.
Is there any manual for this method? Also, I would like to know what equipments are required such Skimmer, strong light and so on.

cool i may give that a shot im going to order the prodibio and try it so ya think i should use the ultramin instead of rb? also what aa are you using? or maybe i can just use the ultramin and a good aa?

Ultramin S is an AA source as well as everything else. Reefbooster is a food source and has AA's as part of it all. I find feeding my fish heavily and using Ultramin works for me.

Here is a guide to starting Prodibio: There are two parts to it, Biodigest and Bioptim

Dose Biodigest one week,

Dose Bioptim, the next

Dose BioDigest, the next

And so forth for the first 6 weeks. Obviously having a larger tank may require you to purchase the larger vials. Only dose Reefbooster after the 6 week initial phase, then once a week after that.

A good skimmer is necessary, lighting is the same as any reef setup, circulation is the same. Skimmer is very important though!!!

well im going to try it can i use the ultramin while doing the 1st
two steps of the prodibio or should i wait till im done with steps
one and two ist...

I would stay away from any aminos, reef booster during the first six weeks. This time is pretty much a break in period to get your tank ULNS once you see your corals get a little pale you know its time for the reefbooster/Aminos

a good skimmer is a very very important thing ......

for my 4ft , i invested in the deltec AP701 and with the dosing regime with the bio digest and bio optim , i do not have to worry about so much on nutrients

I completely mis-calculated. I'm actually in my 4th week now. Not sure how I added up 6 weeks in my last post. Maybe because I used 6 vials I thought 6 weeks? Anyway... Here are some updated shots.

143gadgets,
The colours of your sps are stunning. Are the colours in the pictures the same in real life?

Is not it STOP AMMO instead of Bioptim? Startup kit includes Biodigest and Stopammo, but not Bioptim.
