Professional "Fish Sitters"

The summer travel season is on us, and due to a recent move and not really knowing anyone here in SoCal well enough to give them the keys to my house, but need care for my tank....I have a problem.

Are there any bonded/trustworthy companies you guys could recommend to pay to check up on the tank while I'm out of town?

For those that have used a service, your experiences would be great, also, expected costs.

Thanks!

there are many aquarium service company's that could do this for you. check the yellow pages or your local lfs. ranges should be around 10 to 20 a day depending on services needed.

I was at Tat's the other day listening to this rich idiot talking about his tank and how he constantly kills fishes and needs to replace them. They must look at that guy and see dollar signs because he obviously had money to burn, had no clue how to care for a tank and to top it off, was willing to pay $80 an hour to get water changes done. Unbelievable.

Anyways, I'm not sure if that's the going rate for tank sitters or if they were just milking the sucker.

That rich idiot was ME. And I was not offering $80 an hour to get water changes. I was offering $80 an hour to turn the lights on and off...just kidding...wasn't me.

luvtolean, check out SCMAS (local club) and get to know some of the local reefers. Then you'll have plenty of people that may be able to help you out.

I appreciate that and I think it's good for the future, trade services and such. But I'm leaving, ah...too soon for that.
