Profilux control other dosers?

My tank is not receiving enough alk from kalk in my top off, and I want to set up a 3 part dosing regime.

I really want a profilux doser, but the price tag is crazy expensive for something without a brain.

Anyone use their profilux with any other dosers out there?

Or know anyone selling a used profilux doser?

the price of 4 Drew's doser will cost you about the same and it will use 4 plugs on the powerbar... a native doser is golden in my book!

Yeah, I know. The more I look into it the more I realize how needed the profilux is.

Can the stand alone doser be used with the P3 too, or is it seperate? I found one used.

No the sa dosers are stand alone meaning no external connection other than to another doser

if you are wanting to dose minerals it is imperative you have ML control and the only way to get this is with a native GHL doser hooked up to the Profilux or a GHL stand alone.

For $360 you will have a doser that can be used for multiple uses, fully controllable, but more to the point comes with longevity as with all GHL products, you may pay a bit more but you pay once as the unit has a very long life.

Bargain units you may have to repalce sooner and cost you more in the long run

Buy once and forget and get the functionality you require ;)

K. Thanks!

Anyone know of a good reason other than cost savings on the unit to get the 4 pump instead of the three. I plan on dosing just calcium, alk and mag.

Not going to do the balling method, since I already have the supplies for 3 part. Anything else I could use the other pump for in the future?

Well, I just sucked it up and ordered the doser, and vortech module from progressive reef. Can't wait to play with it, and keep my tank running at consistant levels of cal, alk, and mag.

Plus the vortech module will allow me to change my ecosmart driver back to the gen 2 driver, and save a little money. :)

congrats ;)

The vortech modules have shipped to Progressive reef today, they will go through final testing then onto clients next week!

I'll add my experience with other dosers. I went the "inexpensive" route and bought one of the dosers from Bulk Reef Supply and controlled it via a Profilux power bar. Those dosers are a two-wheel design and I had all kinds of trouble getting it to pump, it allows backflow during each portion of the rotation, necessitating a check valve in the line (which clogs up if dosing mineral salts). I finally gave up and ordered the Profilux doser last week. I just got it set up and I will say the quality of the Profilux doser and its pump head blows away the Bulk Reef Supply design. An added bonus, it does not take up any plugs on your Profilux powerbars.

Thanks for the great feedback, its always so nice to read such reviews.

I did start a "spread the word program" where you get store credits for posting user reviews on forums (other than here) but nobody took this up.

Maybe time to relaunch this.
