Profilux III Elite - IPhone App

Hey,

I believe I have set up everything correctly on both my Profilux and my MarineMad account.

However, When I click on my tank the screen tries to load and then just goes back to the homescreen showing the tank names and disclaimer.

Any ideas?

Dave

Ok.

So, on my MarineMad account during setup there are boxes for GHL Intermal IP Address and GHL Extermal IP address.

Under the External IP address I get this message

"DATA COLLECTION DISABLED DUE TO IP NOT RESOLVING TO YOUR PIII, PLEASE CHECK AND UPDATE"

Any Ideas?

The External IP I input into the Marindmad account is my web host address that comes from DynDNS.com (it does not contain http or slashes or anything). I configured my router for Dynamic DNS.

Does anyone have a step by step instructions on configuring your LAN settings on the GHL using a webhost? I am thinking I screwed somthing up on this end.

Hiya

You will get the support you need on these specific topics here

http://www.aquariumcomputer.com/Forum

I think you will find it imperative to create an account at the official GHL support forum for all our needs. We try and centralize global support as much as possible so the whole community has access to the best support.

Basic level support we do offer here of course but higher level such as connectivity etc is carried out on the official support forum ;)

Make sure you have your marine mad account set for the type of app you are using. There is the read only, and the controller app. Make sure that is set correctly.

Also, make sure you can access your P3 just by typing your DynDNS address in your internet browser. Even better would be to do it from a phone, or laptop that is not connected to your network. This verifies that you have your DynDNS address linked to your profilux properly.

Marine mad has a guide on setting up the external ip address that works flawlessly.

Do you use a modem, and router seperatly, or do you have a combined unit? I had to go combined because my modem, and router would not open the ports that the profilux needed.

If I have a dynamic IP. Do I put my DyDNS address as both (Internal and External)...on the marinemad account?

I believe I have downloaded the Controller Ap (22$ or something like that).

If so, is this the right selection on the MarineMad account.

PIII Controller Apps - with External IP (with data logging)?

Thanks for the help,
Dave

Thanks,

I sent Marinemad an email a few days ago and got no response. I have also posted my question on that forum you mentioned....also waiting.

Hopefully I will get some responses. rostato seems to know what he is talking about. Hopefully he will reply to my questions.

....I feel like an idiot at this point

Yes, you can put your dynamic address in both slots. I use it this way, but that's only because my app runs fast at home. If it does not run fast, or work at all at home then use your profilux's ip address that is assigned in profilux controll under systems, then click lan as your internal ip.

Again, make sure you can first access your profilux from a computers web browser. If you can't get it there, you'll never get it on the app.

The app is a little bit of a pain to get working, but once it does it's AWESOME!

My DyDNS account is:

*****.dyndns.org

When I try and access it using the web browser what do I need to type in

http://*****.dyndns.org (no www.?)

Can you answer tese question for me also?

I appreciate your help Rostato,

Oh, yes you have the controller app, and yes you have the correct one selected. When you access your dynamic address, just type it in there with NO http, or www.

Ok I tried to access my DyDNS address and i just get a error page on my web browser. It seems like it is trying to load it, but times out.

Could this be the result of my internal computer settings?

This is what I thought. We need to get you accessing it from a web browser first, then we can work out the details with marine mad, and the iPhone app.

I need to know how your profilux is connected to your network.
Wireless bridge? or Wired to router?

Do you have a seperate modem, and router, or do you have an all in one, modem/router combination?

What are your settings in profilux control?

Also, please keep in mind, I am not expert, but I have tried nearly every network configuration for the profilux, so I shoul dbe able to point you in the right direction.

modem/router combination

Cable from router into ethernet port on the Profilux III

It is a Linksys Router

I will be back home later today and a will take a screen shot of my setting in my Profilux.

You seem like an expert to me!!!

Thanks,
Dave

This is perfect! That's how I have mine set up, except my profilux is running through a wireless bridge. So, yours will be easy.

Post up a screenshot of your profilux LAN settings, and make sure you know exactly which ip address your router is giving your P3.

Oh, and I knew NOTHING about networking until Gary (the writer of the app) worked with me for many hours tryin gto get my setup working properly, so I feel like I am helping him by helping you.

Yes and no. lol

What happens is your dynamic address is linked directly to your router, your router then needs to forward that signal into your profilux, which has it's own ip address with your network.

Basically, your dynamic address is just a gateway into your house, and your router is the gateway into your profilux. They all have to line up perfectly to communicate properly.

I probably just confused you more...lol

Your ip address for your profilux should be somewhere within the web based software for your linksys router. It will have a tab for something like a list of clients.

Here is an example from my set-up page. What I did was reserve the address, so that my router would never change the ip address for my profilux on accident. This ensures I have the proper configuration all the time.

Here is mine. It has a tab for "attached devices" and then lists them off. You'll have to figure out which one is your profilux because it will not tell the router.
