Hey guys,

Has there been any updates on the touch screen? Pricing, release etc.

Was a lot of talk in sept last year about the unit, haven't heard much since.

if on target the world - USA tends to get things delayed due to shipping times, and i am sure you will be the same on that.

Oh just to remind our friends in Aus - We won the Ashes (AGAIN) :celeb1::celeb1::celeb1::celeb1:

P.S Im a Brit :spin3:

With a team of mercenaries from RSA! How good would the Proteas 1st 11 be with ALL of their players available? I'm afraid that it is going to be some years before our Aussie cricket team is worthy once more ... trash talking doesn't cut it, performance is needed from the over paid weaklings.

Tone :hmm3:

You need a strong crowd following you - we have the renowned Barmy Army - You could have the Bar-be Army! Shrimp and a tinny at the ready :jester:

Profilux IPAD app instead ot Profilux Touch

Profilux IPAD app instead ot Profilux Touch

I have been thinking about writing an IPAD app that connects into the Profilux API and have it display critical characteristics similar to that of a weather station app. Instead of building the Profilux Touch, GHL should develop an IPAD app that displays key functions and even better control the P3. I guarantee you that the Profilux Touch is going to be way more expensive than and IPAD. heck, I could get the cheapest IPAD, load this app and stick in on my wall next to my tank and I bet it would look much cleaner and cooler.

Hint Hint...

Interesting this app is never mentioned on the support forum and there is little info on it either.

I think its best to wait for GHL's own App's they have already started working on some from what I understand.

The advancement and popularity in Ipads etc certainly adds argument if the Touch is now viable in my view (and that is my view not GHL's) more importantly is the need (again my view) for a tablet that will run PLC6, and I have been looking at a few companies recently and I know GHL have done some provisional research in this also.

I am waiting for the release of a new Touch Tablet PC from a third party Global manufacturer, this is a very powerful tablet, I hope to have this by the end of March, but this will come in at a cool $1200 but is a full blow PC with 10.5" screen and WiFi. It runs native windows 7 pro.

I forcee a future of GHL having a Tablet touch PC connected to a master unit.

GHL are still in debate but I will for sure be bringing something out to meet the gap while development continues.

So this brings me to a very valid point - what would you all be prepared to pay for a full on Tablet PC running windows 7 that has wifi and other funky stuff like GPS, meaning you could take it out your home and still view your prfiLux through both browser and PLC6. And when you get lost find your way home with the GPS ;)

What we are looking at are open tablets, that come with PLC loaded and also come with an RS232/USB adapter for those funky firmware uploads, it will also come with Fujitsu pre installed for those that wish to do updates through this method.

The system will be open also, which means you could load anything else to it you so chose.

Is this something you would see value to?

Right now I can get an Apple IPAD 16gb Wifi for about $550 from Amazon.com
- I would be willing to pay up to $40USD for a dedicated application.
- I can find a way to mount it on the wall that looks nice
- I can use the app with future ipads
- For me and hopefully for Profilux the choice is CLEAR, make and IPAD App

It would be easier for Profilux not to have to deal with Manufacturing delays and issues. It would be easier for consumers because IPADS are ubiquitous. And the Ipad looks good on a wall if mounted properly.

I vote for an IPAD app.

Good feedback

Apps are no problem, but what about PLC6? Is everytone more wanting a multi platform support for PLC6 rather than GHL or us providing a high spec Tablet running windows?

So the question now also includes?

Tablet supplied by GHL
OR
Multi platform support for PLC6 (chargeable) for your own choice of device (take into account GHL will never offer support for every device, it would be up to the user to make sure it was compatable)

I am a software developer and can maybe shed a little light on some of what you guys are talking about. I suspect that GHL is looking to make PLC6(or some limited variant of it) a web app. This is relatively easy due to the fact that it is developed using Microsoft's .net API's.
As to the talk of making PLC6 cross platform while I can never say definitively that this is or is not going to happen I would bet that its not going to. Apple is currently using objective C as there native development environment while .net(usually C++ or C#based) is not compatible and would necessitate a complete rewrite of the code. There are many easier ways to build a cross platform piece of software thus making the probability of this happening very slim
I would love to see GHL develop an iOS(iPad,ipod,iPhone) app because of the support that they and the dealers offer. The current batch of apps are borderline unusable because they lack the support necessary to have a robust and useful app. They also have the ability to add more functionality to the web-server in our P3.
