looks like a good start. So are you gonna start the body and cup? then are you gonna make it a recir?

i need the 8" pipe to do anything more to it.the cup is 8" and the body as well.once i get the pipe i will glue everything together then drill all the holes for the pump, drain, inlet and outlet.when done it will look just like an RC-250.

i wont have to worry about fitting smitting,i will however have to put a catch pan under it in case it overflows.i was thinking of maybe having a float switch that pumps the catch tray back into the sump if it overflows.i am however concerned what that will do if it were to dump the skimmate back into the system.thoughts anyone????????????

The catch is a great idea. I had an external and when it exploded, which it did when I didnt want it to, ie 4 in the morning. So I highly recommend a catch pan. What about a smaller rubbermaid container?

I dont think it would be a problem have the catch pan drain back into the sump. If it ever had to do so the skimmer should take all that back out of the system pretty quick when you dialed the skimmer back in. I have accidentally spilt my collection cup full of skimmate into my sump and it reskimmed it pretty quickly.

i kind of think it should reskim it out,the skimmer will be RC 250 sized on a 150g tank.

I have a RS 250 on my 200g and it works like a champ. So having a RC 250 it should not be a problem.

Gotcha. Are you going to the meeting this weekend? If yes could you bring them. Also, would you want to do some reaquascaping before or after?

yeah i think im going,i think it may be best to do it before the meeting.i know joe wants help lifting his tank after the meeting and i would like to get home after that.it shouldnt take too long to redo the rocks.do you have some kind of canister filter, once we start moving rocks it will get cloudy, the can will help keep it somewhat clean for us to see.

No but I have a sock filter... hmmm... I will ask on the board and see if I can borrow one for the day and then return it at the meeting.

let me know what size hoses and I will get some and then you can keep them. A payment for your help :) Plus beer if you want or I have a stocked liquor cabinet.
