I'd like to thank Grant publically for his massive assistance yesterday. I got a second vortech for my sps tank and what started out as "hey check out my awesome flow" morphed into 6 hours of fine tuning of aquascaping, dipping and mounting (of frags!). I went through all my reef towels (you know, those beatup old bath towels that should have been thrown away, but work great for reef cleanup), 2.5 tubes of WaterWeld, must have been 5 or 6 2g tubes of superglue gel and finished off another bottle of melafix. Oh and my bottle of JD somehow emptied...

I'm very pleased with how the tank looks and I should soon be seeing a strongly positive reaction from my corals. Thank you Grant. I appreciate your help.

In lps land, my Tyree AE Purple War Coral ate for the first time in months yesterday morning, and my 12 line wrasse got a new piece of rock to call home.

You're welcome Ken, What started as a second MP-40 envy session turned into an aquascaping and coral placment marathon with the appropriate amount of abuse flowing both ways over color mixing, growth patterns and coral form. The only difficult part was choosing from the jewel box of corals Ken has always had to figure out what "deserved " the hot spots in his new and IMPROVED aquascaping. I have to say Ken's rockwork looks the best (more natural) I have ever seen it. Of course it helped that Ken started us off with his rediculously expensive coffee followed by a load of his leftover fried chicken followed by some quantity of JD all in all a great session of reefing.......And I only stole 1 frag . lol

Very nice tank. Wow, lots of frags. What is the colony that is the highest in middle of the tank, between the frag racks. Looks huge.

ORA Roscoes Blue Tip. My 2nd coral ever. It's smaller now than it was. The pink milli on the far left had a larger footprint until recently. And then there was the 18" Idaho Grape I removed a while back which was sucking down so much calcium daily I had to readjust my dosing downwards after I removed it.

Your tank is coming back nicely Ken. The new scape is looking real good and will give your corals room to grow

Thanks Tom. I think reef tanks are an evolutionary process, and mine continue to evolve. My current goal (aside from the utter obliteration of anything resembling a flatworm) is to not only restore polyp extension and color to where they were, but to surpass them and to set a new "the best my tank ever looked".

Ken, like I said before with the new aquascaping, the increased flow and your new layout of corals I think it's entirely possible, especially with the new mix you have. I for one am excited to see how it all grows out and colors up and will be waiting for the frags to begin flowing again

Thanks Alex. It's been better, but I was pleased with where I was with it when I took that.

Since then my heater exploded and all those sps are now very pale. Most are still alive though, for which I'm very grateful.

And that's just my sps tank. I've got an lps tank too.

I've been out of town for over a week, and finally got to catch up on your unfortunate "adventure" this morning, Ken... glad to hear that most everything survived, even if it got the color scared out of it temporarily (here's to hoping the colors return quickly!)...

Keep us posted - am looking forward to seeing pics of the "best your tank has ever looked" phase when things return to normal!!
