Protein Skimmer LOUD!

Hi,
My AquaC Remora hob protein skimmer is really loud. Really really loud. It's not so much the sound of the water stream hitting the water that bothers me, it's the mechanical humming coming from the pump. I rotated the pump 180 degrees in the water in the tank and that helped reduce noise somewhat, but it's still really bad! Any help would be greatly appreciated! I can't see how they sell any skimmers of this model as hobs if they're supposed to be this loud!

What model pump is it? Is it new?... could need break in time. Is the pump noisey when it is disconnected from the skimmer?

It's been running for almost 3 weeks, the pump is a maxi jet 1200. I havent tried running it not connected to the skimmer.

Have you tried the pump off the skimmer or taken the pump apart? Could simply be a bad impeller or something lodged in it, MaxiJets are typically quiet pumps and sounds like the noise is the pump and not the skimmer from your description
