protein skimmers in Finnex M-tanks

Hi!

Those of you who have the Finnex tanks that come with protein skimmers:

How well do these skimmers work? I am going to downsize from a 75 gallon to an as-of-yet-unchosen nano setup. My 75 has a Coralife Super Skimmer on it. It is not one of the upper eschelon skimmers, but it works well and IMO the best bang for the buck. I wouldnt want to spend the money on one of these Finnex setups only to discover that the protein skimmer is about as good as a Seaclone or Skilter (no offense to anyone who owns one of these - it's just that I want better performance than what these units offer).

i have the 22gal glass cube and the skimmer i have works great! I've recently downgraded from a 115 myself which was stocked with sps and a few softies. I had a Superskimmer on mine also i think it was rated for 250gal? but anywayz i never had much luck with it but my finnex skimmer seems to pull out about a full cup of gnarly green liquid every 3 days. its not the full gunk or lifereef pulls out in our 225 but this thing seriuosly kicks butt! imo a very good venturi. BTW my tank is stocked with 4 grown out sps colinies (about 4 inches around) a 5 inch dersa clam and a 4 inch corcea I hope this helps.

my 30 gallon is still in its cycle but it even seems like its pulling stuff out now. some people have had micro bubbles during break in but they seem to disapate (sp?) after a couple of days.

Yes it helps - thanks. I was originally going to put my own system together - a 20g with a sump, but now I am thinking I want to go with one of these tanks and skip the sump.

The skimmer on my 22g does a pretty good job of pulling gunk out. It's pretty much always foaming. Not like my MR2, but it does do its job. LOL!

i have been dealing with these skimmers for some time(as i work in a lfs) and i have to say they stink. seems to be the one thing finnex skimpt on the whole system. took it out and put a cpr hob in and pulls way more garbage out then the stock one ever did.
