PTSD treatment tank

A few thoughts:

1. I too am sump-constrained, and have investigated sump-friendly skimmers a few times and concluded that when the time comes, one of the EcoMaxx skimmers would probably work. They have the pump inside the base so present a smaller footprint.

2. I'm an external pump guy, so not a lot of experience with submersibles other than Mag drives which I do not like - too hot and noisy.

3. I think the RB lights are excellent, but as I posted in your other thread, a single P48 may prove insufficient.

since you have a center brace, i would look at getting 2 light units, one for each side.

2 of the 24" fixtures would work great, or even 2 32" setups if you can fit them over the 60" tank.

Well I was just getting ready to put on the window tint when I was looking at the seam. To me it looks like it has little chunks of dry silicone that got between the seams before they sealed it. All of the other seams look really good. Let me know what you think of it. If it should be ok I'm fine with that because its on the back and can not be seen.

More likely those are air bubbles that were trapped in the seams during assembly. Those aren't too bad in your photo, considering some of the tanks I've seen. If there are any really large bubbles that extend for 1/3 across the seam or more I would send the tank back and demand they redo it.

Yeah that is just one little 6" view. But I can tell its silicone because you can see the gain in them. I just called DSA and they wanted a picture of it so they could look into it.

Well I just got off the phone with DSA. He was sure that it is just air bubbles and that it will be just fine. I'm just glad that its on the back so you can't see it from the front viewing area. Well I guess I will go back to putting the window tint on it.

Well I'm one step closer to get this thing up and going. The company that was making the stand said 7-10 days to make it. Well today I got a call from them saying that it was done and I can come pick it up. Now that was a fast turn around time for them to build it and powder coat it. All in all it was only a couple of days I went in late Thursday right before they closed to give them the plans for the build. Friday they got it built and today they powder coated it and I picked it up. This thing is strong enough that I can place a tank on it if I ever needed to.

Uh... You ARE putting a tank on it...

Stupid brain is not working. But good catch that made me laugh for a few after I seen what I wrote. How about this it strong enough to hold a M1a1 Abrams on it. But me being the Infantry type of guy that I am. I will have to go with a M2 Bradley. But I will take my chute over them both AIRBORNE!!!!

Well I think I have found a skimmer for my tank. Has anyone used of have thumbs up or down for the SKIMZ SM203? It says it's rated for a 533 gallon tank but I know how most makers way over rate things. So I will cut it in half and say that it should be good for a 215 gallons give or take. Should I pull the trigger and get one ordered? I also need to get a return pump so in the next week I can start working on the plumbing.

I just went through and read a few reviews and watch a video of it. Not bad.

Good idea. Keeps the water flowing and who cares if it skims some of the water again. Help keep it clean.

I like that it uses the DC pumps.

Well things might be on hold for a few days until I find out on work and pay. It sucks working for the government sometimes.

Semper Fi, my brother. My days of worrying about political tantrums are done, unless the eagle decides not to crap on 1st of the month!!! LOL. I dig the PTSD tank, good call. I served in Beirut from 83-84 and finished out stateside at Camp Lejune NC, bought some swampland in Fl. And I'm still here. I'll be following along as I started my build on Augest 3rd, "Independence Tank" it's a in wall 150gal mixed reef. I'm just now building my sump out of a 55gal. This should brighten up the hooch! I spent the better part of the last year at the VA hospital in West Palm Beach Fl. getting my head right, thank god for good people. One of the staff was pushing everyone out of sick bay and onward to a better life and I decided to go back into reefing, something I had not done since the 70s in my teen years. So here I am clean and sober with a year and a half of my life back! OOHRA!!
I can't tell people how important the tanks are to me but I'm sure you know the serenity of relaxing and just drifting away with the fishes! Wish you all the best and take that time everyday to chill, we've earned it.

Semper Fi, my brother from another mother or branch. Its good to hear that someone else my be getting some metal health from their tank. I can be stressed out or ****ed off at the entire world but sit me down in front of my tank and 5 mins later I am back to normal. Its better then any drug the VA can give you. Even on a bad day where you can have a crash I still think it can be ok. But yep I know what you mean by as long as it makes it to me on the 1st of the month I should be good. But I also work for the VA as a disability rater. I know shot me now because you didn't get the rating you wanted. Because of all of this crap going on back in DC. We are working but not getting paid. Lucky us don't you think. Well its early and I need coffee to get my blood going

Well I figured I would post some pictures of my current tank that is going to be replaced with this one. This is just a standard 40 breeder.
