Public Aquarium - for a weekend trip?

Hi All,

I want to take a weekend trip with my 11 yo daughter. I was thinking of driving down to Baltimore and going to the aquarium and the science center. Before I finalize my plans I just wanted to check if there are other place within a 5-6 hour drive. We've been to Liberty Science Center in Jersey. Anyplace that has a good, easy, combo of aquarium and science center or natural history museum? Boston? Cleveland?

I have been to the New England Aquarium in Boston, it was nice. The center is a huge round aquarium with stairs that go up along the whole thing. There is plenty to see and do there. The Museum of Science was really nice too. We kind of rushed through it because we spent most of our time at the aquarium. I have also heard good things about the duck tours there but have not personally gone on one. I would recommend both places to anyone though we had a great time.

I lived in the Baltimore area. both are great. dc is only 40 min further. most of dc is free. my kids geek out at museums. the aquarium is a bit pricey, but nice. inner harbor has a huge fresh water tank at borders (all 3 are walking distance from each other) balt /dc are pretty safe during daylight hours. I wouldn 't wander into unknown areas at night. arboretum ? had a great koi pond/Japanese gardens
